Having an Open Mind

“Your Attitude Determines Your Altitude”

I saw this poster in the hall of my office building. I’m going to say it is very true. Sometimes, despite your attitude and determination, the world can still reject you. However, we have to remember what standards we are trying to reach. For example, one person might consider ultimate altitude to be wealth. Another might consider it to be family health and happiness. Regardless, your attitude will have an impact. My mother has brought to my attention that I often talk to her with a negative tone. Unfortunately, I’ve decided I often come off as having a negative tone or attitude. I think it’s because I am very defensive without realizing it. I’m going to have to make an extra effort to be less defensive automatically. With that attitude, I will not reach an altitude I want to seek. I guess this is just something I’m struggling with and the sign shot out to me for the first time despite the fact I’ve walked past it many times. Maybe this will help someone else along too! It is my goal to work on having an open mind and responding to others slowly so I can make sure I don't have a negative approach accidently. It's not that I really think negative, but apparently that is how I'm interpreted and acknowledging that will allow me to improve. So here I go, be patient. Prayers and wishes!

Starting Summer

Hello All,
The very few who actually read this…I thought I would update my blog since my life is very much different. I am HOME FOR THE SUMMER and so glad! Abilene is great and all, but it’s good to be home. So here are the major highlights:
***I’m living at home and the food intake has improved. Unfortunately, my body size has NOT haha, but I’m working on that. It’s good to be with my parents. I got to help work on the fence last Saturday. I had been out crazy late the night before, so I was tired, but surprisingly able to function. Clearly I’ve learned from college. Strange differences I’m adjusting to since being home is having cereal for dinner a lot or just having my own meal. Not because my moms incapable by any means, just what happens when dinner happens late after working on the fence. Also, switching trucks has been “fun” haha.
***I get to see Keith a lot! Also my besties Tori and Jordan!!! It’s really great. MOST IMPORTANT is AIDEN! I’ve missed that boy so much! Last Sunday I went to keith’s and I got to have him on the couch to get him to sleep..Keith kept feeding him ice cream so you can imagine how great that went. This weekend hopefully we will be taking Aiden to the park! But anyway, getting to see them frequently is the best ever!
***MY JOB! I am currently an employee of the Tomball ISD. $8.25 an hour baby! WHOOP! It will be terrible to go back to minimum wage at school, but it works. I work across the walkway from Tori so that’s a blast. We’ve had several lunches together now. Friday lunch with our mom’s and hopefully Mrs. Liz like today will become tradition. The people here are REALLY great! It’s been real fun! Every office has it’s drama and gossip and I love it! My first week is about to end and I feel like I’ve been here forever already.

So life is well! I’ve got 18 minutes left at work…we get off early because it’s Memorial Day weekend and we don’t have to work Monday. Tonight I am going to the Astros game and I am SOOO excited! (Keith’s b-day gift). We better win! Haha We WILL win! So now I have folders and notebooks and papers sprawled out so I look busy for these last few minutes as I count down to get out of here! Haha I know that’s terrible, but I don’t want to start a new project only to have to stop, and I’ve done allll the filing possible! So whatev. Ok well I am going to stall in a new way. I will try to update and write random thoughts more often again! No promises since it is summer, but I’ll do my best! SEE YA!

The Promised Updates

Well! The week of coming sophmore events has come and passed. So I shall give my updates. I should be sleeping, but I'm not quite tired enough, so this should help. First of all registration. My advisor is completely incompetent! I go to register and my advising code is not working. I was a little nervous I had written it down wrong or switched a number, but I remember double checking and writing slow to avoid that. SO! I have to walk across campus from my office to the Psychology Dept. My advisor wasn't there, which I expected. BUT! I saw Dr. Beck's office was open. For those who don't know, Beck is the favored psych teacher here who is genius, funny, great teacher, caring man, etc...we all love em! So I go in and I'm thinking he's the dept chair, but asked to be sure, "Do you know who the Dept chair is?" He said "Why yes I do". I said "It's you isn't it?" haha And it was. He hooked me up, asked which one I had been using, gave me my new one...NOTHING ALIKE! He asked who my advisor was and so hopefully Perkins shall die for messing me up like that! haha ANYWAY! I struggled to find a good computer that worked, connections weren't woorking because so many were trying to register. Finally, at work I got through. I got my classes!!! Sadly, I realized it was only 14 hours!! Not enough for me!!! SO! I dropped exercise science because thats just 1 hour credit and added another psychology class. Now I will be taking 16 hours. I'm sure it will be nice after 18 this semester! My classes include Pysiological Psychology, Test and Measurements Psychology (with Beck!!!), Message of the Old Testament Bible, American Literature before 1900, Sociology, and Beginner's Tennis (whoop!). I'm siked! Psychology will be so interesting, Bible is with all 4 of my girl friends and a guy friend of ours, American lit..eh, sociology won't be hard and will be interesting, and tennis...OMG will be so fun! I'm taking it with Madi and now I'll be able to whoop up on Keith!

Ok! Now then we had our housing meeting! Madalyn and I are trying to get into Smith Adams. It's two blocks off campus, but we want that because it's forced exercise, a new scene, etc. Plus aramark will come out there twice a week to cook for us, our rooms huge, and they're doing alot of stuff to it this summer! So we sign-up on the 21st...hopefully we'll get it!

Thrird-we had the all club rush. It was late, so dark, and it was CRAZY windy! I was in capris and a T-shirt so very cold. BUT! I met alot of people. We walked around the Kojie's table and the president Jamie just walked up to us! So we met her and another officer Amber, then saw Kate, they just kept passing us around introducing us to people. We walked around to the Siggie's table and Alpha Kai Omega. I know for sure, even more so after this, I want to be a Kojie. But we shall see. We have more rushes on Tuesday, so we will be hitting those too! It was complete chaos, but fun! Kate had cookies there that were delicious!

The rest of my week was fine. Worked and did school. Nothing major this weekend. Got pizza with a coupon and watched Sleeping Beauty with the gals haha. Heck yes we did! We each got assigned which fairy we were most like and then Riane was Sleeping Beauty cause she's blonde (not fair but whatev haha). We've decided we are SOOO being them for halloween...NO JOKE making dresses and all! I'm the red/pink fairy. She keeps things running smoothly!

Today at church I talked to an Elder about how to get better involved!!! I was nervous but it went well. I will be teaching in the nursery in a couple of weeks. He introduced me to the lady in charge of that and she was like "OH! I've been walking around with a clip board begging people!" haha So that worked out. However, turns out "nursery" really is what I call Cradle Roll, so I've got to do the little songs and whatnot to actually teach them, so I hope it goes well. The elder also introduced me to a university student who heads up the university meal team. Once a month the university group plans the Sunday evening meal on Wednesday and then that Sunday afternoon prepares it and serves it that night. So that will be fun! I'm looking forward to meeting people! Ok well I'm done. I've written too much! I will try to write again soon after stuff happens like on Tuesday! Pray for my parents cause they're traveling and left the home to my crazy brother who I love and miss! peace

Big Stuff Going Down

Well hello all! I'm doing good on this blog thing again! I'm at work and there's very little to do, and b y little I mean nothing. haha I'm thinking I go in the back and keep organizing the old front office that is basically a storage hah. BUT! This week does have big stuff going down. Yesterday-we had our meeting for Sophmore Housing. Madalyn and I are still rooming together. We were pretty set on where we wanted to live, but now we're changing haha. We're actually considering Smith Adams. It's like two blocks off campus, so we're excited about being able to walk and ride bikes every day for required exercise. Rainy days we can drive. Madalyn and I have the same first class every day together, so we hope, so it will be very convenient! The meeting was interesting and informative. We register on the 21st of April and I have a pretty good lottery number, so pray we get the one we want! Today is REGISTRATION! I register at 3:00. That's exactly when I get off work, so I'm going to see if they will let me stay here and use this computer. It's a desktop so it's bound to get better connection, since hundreds of people will be trying to do it at once. I REALLY want my schedule. I will update on my success. IF I get what I want...I will only be taking 15 hours. I know thats actually relatively normal, but I took 17 my first semester and 18 this past one. BUT it's all I could fit without going back to 18 and I'm thinking with pledging I would die! haha I do intend to pledge and thats the next big thing this week. Tomorrow we have an all crlub "rush" outside in the mall court area of campus (large courtyard between buildings haha) all the clubs will have tables set-up so we can get an overview of all of them. I do intend to try my best to get into KJK, which is the one Kate is in. Being a legacy would help, plus I've met alot of girls, so I'm hoping! But anyway, that whole process is starting to preview at the end of this semester before the BIG stuff next semester! My 3 best girls friends are pledging too...Madi wants to be in KJK also, but not as much as me. Riane and Amanda don't know. I think Riane is a siggie...and thats totally ok. THey make jokes as if we can't be friends if we're not in the same one...NOT true haha. Anyway. I guess thats the three big things going down. Kind of exciting! I'll be home in 30 days I believe! Whoop! I have a little countdown in my room haha. Keith is doing well if you've been wondering! He's working ALOT at the paintshop at the car dealership he works at and is enjoying it. Adjusting to things being different at church, but he's tough. I'm so jealous of him being home with Aiden all the time. I missed Aiden's two year birthday, but sent him a fun card. It will be nice to get home. I miss my parents. and my brother. I haven't talked to them as much recently...sorry guys...makes me sad. I'll call again soon! Ok well, I love you all!

My weekend

This has been SUCH a relaxing, re-grouping weekend. My friend Madalyn went out of town and Riane was here but busy, and so we all kind of got a break from eachother, which was nice. I miss them alot the whole time, but that's good to take time off sometimes. I got to see some familiar faces from home! The group came up for Bible Bowl competition here so I saw them alot. It was fun! I was walking to the video store and saw someone who looked like a lady from our church. THEN I saw two big white vans. I KNEW they had to be somewhere close! haha I looked and McDonalds..nothing. So I kept walking and THEN in KFC I saw familiar heads! So I ran in and shocked them. Got to catch up a bit. Couldn't resist some mashed potatoes and gravy! My favorite food! haha Came back and watched some movies. Premonition is a good, but intense movie! I got school done on Saturday, but I did enjoy relaxing also. Sunday I slept in. I had no ride to morning church, but Madalyn was out of town and I normally just go with her. My church that I prefer...only meets Sunday nights. I want to place membership, but I don't know if I should since I'm about to leave...but I WANT TO! :) I think I might. haha. I love the church, the elders, theyre all so amazing and uplifting. I met some girls there that live in my dorm and go every Sunday and wednesday...so hopefully I can start going on Wednesdays, something I haven't been able to do before. Anyway, so I slept in. Walked down to my sisters guy friends house where the truck was. Went on a search for Church's Chicken. Failed and got Sonic...a refreshing sonic wrap, which was perfect with the weather! Then I pulled out a blanket and did some school outside. It was AMAZING! I love the weather right now...PERFECT! Then Madi, Riane, and I went to the baseball and met up with some of our guys friends there. It was fun! Got some sun whoop whoop! Then Sunday night...I don't really remember haha. OH! Well I went to church and that was really nice. The lesson was SO good! I'll share in soon blog. Then I know I spent most of it doing school. So yeah. Thats my weekend. I'm loving it outside and trying to spend as much time as possible out there! Counting down until I come home! 31 days!!!

It's been so long....

Well-It has seriously been forever since I've blogged. I am very sorry for those of you who actually read this...mom...haha...but here I am with some time. Much as happened, too much to re-cap. Sing Song went down. Spring Break happened-Spent it in Arkansas with Keith and it was amazing! Freshman Formal happened-fun with the gals. But eventhough it sounds like I've got all the free time in the world...I'm swamped. Taking 18 hours was the right choice, but it's hard. I guess I will just ramble about this week. I had alot going on. I gave my first 6 minute speech on Tuesday. That was intimidating, but I made the time with 5 1/2 minutes and my topic was "How to Change a Tire". They, especially the guys, were impressed and said I did a GOOD job! So that was a relief! I've got a huge research paper I'm working on in English that will slowly be completed until the end of the semester. Kind of BORING topic compared to other classes, but thats ok. I had a major exam in Bible on Thursday. The review was intensive, but I also memorized a 6 verse passage for 10 extra points, whoop whoop. Today I had a major exam in Psychology. I was really stressed, because it was over 9 chapters, the study guide was 175ish questions with about 10 that were possible essay. I was up until 2:30 studying. But! I think I dominated it! I mean, we shall see next week when I get the grades, but whoop I feel good about it! On top of this I've also had my biology class. I recently got a better grade on my last exam which REALLY made me happy, hopefully I will continue to get better! So anyway! School is intense, but I'm making it out alright. We register Wednesday, so I've been trying to figure all that out! Actually, I'm about to do that now. I met with my new dept. advisor...not happy hah. Turns out he will also teach me next semester...I'm not feeling him AT ALL. Oh well.
This weekend a group from our church is coming up for BIble Bowl here at ACU, I'm hoping to get to see Macy and Brooklyn alot! Hopefully our youth minister will be flexible so they can come see my room! Speaking of my room, I can't wait to move into my next room with my next roommate. Prayers to make the final stretch would be GREATLY appreciated regarding that. I haven't seen my sis much this week at all and haven't gotten to talk to my family much. I miss everyone, it's weird not talking to them. I suppose I should call later today! haha I'm dead tired so I'll hush, but I'll try to get better again! Lots of love

My past week

Well, I had written half a blog and then LOST IT! So I'm sorry mom this is later than I said it would be, but here I go!

First of all I had two major exams this last week. Obviously I survived but barely. My exams were in biology and speech. Biology was ROUGH, but I made 18th place in my class so that's good. I just wish I had done better since I stayed up until 3 in the morning studying after a whole week of studying also! Turns out, there were NO A's, 3 B's, 29 D & F's, and some inbetween. This shows how HARD my teacher is. Today she went over the questions and where they were in our notes. THIS made me mad because when I asked her about what to study and any suggestions she told me the italic questions we do for homework are what she considers the study guide. TWO questions came off of those, thats it!!! SO I'll have to approach it different next time. Speech was tough, but I did better there! Turns out our test was WAY harder and required more on short answer than anyone elses. But I did ok!

Classes are going well. I just need to survive Biology. My art exam is Friday, so be praying about that. My teacher's been sick so I've had two classes that we've got to skip, which is nice! Too bad for him though. Psychology is still amazingly interesting. Unfortunately we will be leaving the baby and toddler stage, but I'm sure I will continue to enjoy the class!!! Bible is great. We're in Revelation so it is pretty interesting and controversial.

Work is going amazing. Sometimes it's been a little boring, but we're aloud to get on our email and I've blogged obviously from the office. I've done ALOT of organizing and I'm going to try and get the office to recycle!

Sing Song rules my life still, but only for one more week. I'm SOOOO excited about it, but it will also be nice to get more sleep and have more studying time! We had alot of practices and have been having different people coming in to work with us. Everyone says we need t o get our diction down, so hopefully we remember that when we get on stage. We've cleaned up our choreography so it's good. I'm sad because they changed some things or dropped stuff because people couldn't do it! So I hope our show isn't boring heh. We got our outfits last night so that was fun and exciting! I CAN'T WAIT for my family and friends to come. From last Saturday to this Saturday I will be spending 2-5 hours a night in Sing Song. By Thursday that will be even more, because Thursday is our first show. Man it's intense!!!

Keith and I are doing GREAT! I am counting down to my trip up to Harding to see him and Jordan! He's doing pretty good with classes, working hard. Baseball practice has been fun and good. He's having trouble sleeping, so prayers for that would be great. But us as a couple are doing amazing!

This past weekend Madalyn had alot of fun together. Riane and Amanda went home, so we just spent the whole weekend together. Friday night we ordered pizza, treated ourselves to drinks, and watched movies while making cards. I opened my first gift from my Valentine's box that my mom sent me! It was TONS of AMAZING Valentine's day card makign stuff and it was SO fun! We enjoyed it! Saturday we ran errands. I spent the morning in a frenzy trying to get my Valentine's day box for Keith ready to send. Unfortunately the place we went to ship it was not a post office and so I couldn't send it flat rate! Postage is pricey let me tell you! But I'm excited about it!

I don't know what else to say and I've got homework so I'm out!!! Love you all!

The Low Down

Well, again I write from work. Today I work two hours. I got here 5 minutes late and was nervous, but they were very nice and didn’t seem to mind as long as I didn’t make it a habit. I have been busy at work the past two days. Yesterday we had a birthday lunch for Christ our lawyer, but he woke up sick and couldn’t even attend. So my 30 minute lunch break between chapel and class was spent here at work. We had Mexican and it was VERY good. Mrs. Marilyn made cheesecake and I have an extra piece waiting in my room for me! I also got the leftover tortillas from Rosas, which I know SOUNDS silly, but the tortillas are AMAZING so I was excited! I worked three hours yesterday and most of it is by myself. I handled my first phone call. I got nervous cause there are different answers for different lines, but I did ok. When I transferred her to Mrs. Debbie we thought I lost her and I felt terrible. However, when we called the lady back she had needed to hang up on us, so I did everything fine! I just have to be better about asking who is calling. I did a lot of filing, recorded contacts we had been making, ran errands, organized, etc. Today when I got here there were a lot of errands to run. These have been my first two days of running errands by myself. I’m doing fine. Now, there is nothing to do. I made a phone call, but did fine. So work is going well. I love the people I work with so much. I’m still trying to build a comfort with Bruce one of the older men, but Dan I am really comfortable with (I think he likes me).

Classes are alright. A LOT of reading of course. I have at least two exams coming up I believe on Tuesday, so I have a VERY big study weekend in front of me. The ones I KNOW I have are Speech and Biology. Biology is still ridiculous because my crazy teacher, but I’m slowly figuring her out. Speech is A LOT of fun! We got to teach this past class, 25 minutes to prep actual material, and then 10 minute lesson. Everyone really liked our activity, we did a demonstration and it was like ”Who’s line is it anyway” so it was fun. After that we played a game to review, and that made me a little nervous about the test, so I’ve got to hit that study guide hard. Psychology class today was SO neat! We went into different rooms of the clinic and had things set up and questions to answer. We are still in the earliest stages of development and I LOVE IT because of my love of babies and toddlers. It’s amazing how much I already know just in terms of stimulating their minds and what they can do at different ages. It was neat! I can tell how much this class will help me in LIFE in general because he will make me a VERY knowledgeable mother. Bible is fun with Madalyn. We’ve been having very interesting debates and you know I love that! My teacher really pulls you in and makes you apply this stuff to your life and I really like it. English is good, we’ve been reading short stories and having to analyze the characters and symbols, and my psychologist side loves it!

Sing Song is going well! Practice last night seemed LONG. We started late because someone was in our room. Then, the girl doing choreography wasn’t there, so we worked on cleaning up what we already knew. It got REALLY nitpicky and I was impatient, but Madalyn and I have fun. She got mad at me because sometimes it seems I embarrass her with my amazingly outgoing character! Haha Oh well, she loves me. We got really cool sing song shirts ordered for our freshman group and I’m liking that. So it’s good. I’m REAL excited about my friends and family that are coming up, so I’m eager for it to come! We have practice this Sunday, which is also the Super bowl!!! But we convinced them to bump it up an hour and we agreed to practice outside even if it’s cold so they didn’t collide. I don’t even know WHAT I’m doing for Super bowl! I’m so used to having a party at a friends house, so we shall see.

I finally had a fun night where I allowed myself some time off of work or school. At 6 last night there was a free concert in the Bean Sprout. One guy was a new artist, but he was really good, acoustic sound. Next was a friend of mine Stephen who has a band with his brother Andy (also a friend), but Andy had a class so Stephen played himself without Andy’s drums. THEN the main gig was Rockin Extensions, a pretty well established band of students here. I kind of know most of the band now and the Lead singer Andrew begged me to make time for the show. I was on the front row and he kept making signals and pointing to me, so people would look at me like who’s that girl, yeah it was cool haha. Tonight I am going to a free movie here on campus called August Rush. I really wanted to see it when it came out and now I can for free! So that’s fun! Madalyn went to Dallas for the Livestock show because her brother is showing, so hopefully Riane and Amanda will go with me! If not, I’m sure I’ll know someone there haha.

Ok well this is really long, I’m sorry! That is my life as of right now! I’ll write again soon! Thanks for letting me ramble; I’m at work with nothing to do so this took up my boredom! Love you all!

And so it goes...

Well, I am at work with little to do, so I am using this time to write since I know it’s been a while. My past week (2nd week of school) and start of this one has been interesting. I’m of course busy, but I don’t think I will ever start a blog that does not declare my life chaotic. I guess I will hit highlights. But know overall, school is going ok, HARD, but ok. Social life is taken up by Sing Song. Ok! When school started I came slightly “sick” with a runny nose and lots of coughing. Well last Wednesday, I started getting a crazy migraine and sharp chest pains, so mum said it was time to see the campus doctor. I signed in RIGHT BEFORE like 8 other people, so that was nice timing. Went through the nurse process, but I was not too please with her intelligence level. Then, I had to wait in a back room for the doctor, OVER an HOUR! No joke I felt so bad I just laid down on the bed and dozed off. Turns out I had a severe sinus infection with 103 degree fever. Needless to say, I stayed in my room after that to keep my sickness to myself. Missed classes Thursday, but with doctors note, I will not get counted absent and be able to make up quizzes, which is nice. I’m MUCH better, but still coughing and drainage. My antibiotics go through the end of this week, so hopefully it will leave. Sing Song is the other big event of my life. The past few times I was either not able to sing or I just sounded terrible. We’ve learned some choreography now and I’m looking forward to learning the rest. We are doing alright, our show is pretty good, and apparently good rumors are going around, there is just one section we’re struggling with. Bobby our director is getting snappier and snappier each practice, which is a lot, so it escalates fast. I’m REAL excited though, because my whole family including my Gramma and brother and sis-in-law are coming up, PLUS my best friend Tori, PLUS my good friends Elisabeth and Christina! So it is just going to be a blast! We haven’t gotten a schedule for the weekend of the show, so I hope I’m able to spend plenty of time with them!!! Work is going good. I REALLY enjoy the girl Carrie I work with almost every day. I work with Callie on Fridays for just two hours, and I thought she didn’t like me, but she’s warmed up to me now I guess. I went crazy here though….I’ve re-organized!! And cleaned!!! The back end of the office has this hallway that has SO much stuff in it and it was so unorganized. It all started when we got a shipment of coffee and I organized the coffee area. Then they loved that, so when it was slow one day and I was by myself, I re-organized the paper shelf. TODAY…I cleaned up the end of the hall way where tons was just shoved, cleaned up some in the filing section, and cleaned up the kitchenette area (a cabinet and countertop). So I’ve cleaned a lot, but they love it! I was scared to do anything when I first started working, but I slowly eased into it because it was just too nasty and dysfunctional. I’ve got 27 minutes left to go and I wish I had SOMETHING to do! But I will stop rambling. Tonight, I’m going to the basketball game because we’re playing our rivals Charleton and then I’ve got loads of school to do! Pray for me! I’m handing in my first case study tomorrow in Developmental Psychology! I had to observe, analyze, and write this specific type of 4 page paper involving theories and sections of developmental psychology and blah blah over a newborn to 4 years old. I used Aiden as my subject, because I couldn’t analyze any live kids without contaminating them! Haha ANYWAY! Pray that’s up to par! Ok! Well I love you all!

Second half of first week

My First week continues…
Well I have returned to each class now. Everything continues to go smoothly. Wednesday I went to art. I was supposed to sit with my sisters friend that I mentioned Jeremy. He said he needed a sitting buddy because he didn’t know anyone else. So I went and didn’t see him, so I sat with Tiffany again and just watched for him. I never saw him until 15 minutes AFTER class started! So that didn’t work. I figured I’d facebook him before Friday and we would work it out. Class was interesting! We were starting with WHY study art, and I found the different perspectives really interesting. I think I might of messed up the order of my classes in my last blog, because after Art I have psychology, and I might of switched that last blog with Bible, I don’t know. ANYWAY, I went to PSYCHOLOGY. We got into more of a lecture. We were talking about different theories/theorists. I REALLY enjoy my teacher! We had great discussion and she really keeps my attention. I left there for English. We had pretty interesting discussion, my teach is still crazy loopy, but I think it will be ok. We are writing A LOT including a research paper which is yuck, but oh well. After class I had to talk to her. I got an excused absence for Friday. I am going with Madalyn to a funeral. There is a program here call Big Brothers, Big Sisters. You adopt a “little” and do fun stuff with them. Well, the other night when she called her little, she found out her mom died the night before!!! So yeah, we were going to go to that and would miss our 10:00 classes, but it was excused. Then we went to chapel. We had a female teacher come and speak. She gave points of encouragement and points on how to make it through the year. It was kind of repetitive like get sleep, do your reading, don’t skip chapel, blah blah. Haha, But she seemed very nice and a fun lady. Then was lunch at the amazing bean haha. I had a grilled chicken salad, YUM! I hit work at 1:00. Mrs. Debbie was CRAVING a brownie, SO she sent me and Carrie to get brownies from chic-fil-a on campus for the whole office! Apparently, if they want something like that on campus, or at Sonic during HAPPY HOUR, they send us and buy something for us too!!! If you work mornings they buy you breakfast, too bad I never do haha. Nothing much happened that evening. Thursday- My day started with disgusting Biology. We went through a whole lecture and it was indeed torture. She made us get up and stretch twice, UGH. Afterward, I went to Madalyn’s room to walk to Bible. She had just gotten up, but she made it in time to leave for class. We had four minutes when we got to class, so we went to get a Gatorade from the little cafĂ© down the hall. This will possibly become a tradition, we just have to watch our bean bucks! Class was kind of long. We basically summed up creation to Acts. Haha So it was a lot of lecture, but now we can get into more discussion which I LOVE! I left there to meet up with the rest of my gang for chapel. But we didn’t know where to go, so instead Madalyn and I went to the library. We both just checked our email and I got soup for lunch. We were basically stalling before my 12:00 and Madalyn was sweet enough to stall with me! We printed off our music for sing song. We’re excited! I then went to speech. Our teacher is the director of the debate team, so she was on a debate trip. SO, we joined with another Coms class. I did NOT enjoy it, well the talking before class was fun, but once class started, the teacher went SOOO fast that notes were impossible! It’s a GOOD thing that our book has the definitions we need. We take online quizzes that are timed weekly. I actually need to do that!!! After this class I was done until work. I had to go to work at 2:00, so I came back to my room for an hour to change (I can’t wear jeans with holes to work) and do some school before. Kate came by to pick up stuff I had of hers and she also gave me a ride to work. Work was fine. Same stuff, I did learn how to do a new certain process and that’s good. Then I went with Madalyn to the mall. We did a little shopping and by we, I mean HER haha. Dinner at the bean with the girls. Then I got my stuff and met Sam and Ben at the library. Stayed there until I met Madalyn at the campus center at 9:25 for Sing Song practice at 9:30. SO exciting! I realized I hadn’t taken my strattera for the past two days, so YEAH, I was a little crazy. My throats been in BAD shape even with meds, so I sounded like a man. Haha. But our show is a combination of 8 songs and we got through 4!!! So yeah! It was fun. After I spent an hour or so with Keith on the phone. I was starting my homework and working on things while we talked. We got some EXCITING news! Keith’s coached had a private talk with him. He was scared, but his coach said he saw SERIOUS potential in Keith’s skills and he sees him playing for varsity (he’s on JV now) next year, if not later this season!!! I am so proud of him and he’s really excited! So that’s awesome! Eventually, we got off so I could shower and go to bed. I wasn’t done with homework until 1:30. Then showered and went to bed. Oh my, this semester will be long! My first week is almost done!

My Firsts....

Well, so my mom will kill me if I don’t do this, so here I am. My first week of my second semester of college is just about over. I guess I will share all my firsts since I’ve been back.
Sunday night was my first time to finally see Madalyn again. It took forever though, but that’s ok. We got in town, I dropped Kate at her house so she could shower before going to see some friends. I came back and Kimberly came down to help me unload. She only helped me with one load, because I had SO much stuff and I felt bad asking for anything more than that. I know this sounds backwards and ridiculous, but I got my father’s stubborn genes unfortunately. After tons of time of going up and down three stories, I had to stop. I left some stuff to get later, but I just couldn’t do anymore. I didn’t want to unload my stuff too much because I was waiting to talk to the resident director about switching rooms. So I just got necessities moved and straightened up, made my bed, waiting for Kate to call. She finally was ready, so I went to her house and then she dropped me back off at Nelson. I went to see Madalyn and it was SO exciting to see her. We went and got drinks at Sonic. NOT Dr. Pepper though, she is quitting with her NEW BF for a lil over a month. So, I will also be limiting myself even more than 1 on Tuesday and Thursdays. It will PROBABLY just be one a week, MAYBE two if it’s a bad day. That’s my “juice” of choice, so deal with it haha. So we went driving for a bit and caught up. It was nice. Got back to my room, settled in some more, talked to Keith, and went to bed. OH, I had not blogged over break so a little update, Keith and I are back together if you didn’t know. After a lot of talking, we are back together as of the 22nd of December and VERY happy. We both used the 2 ½ months apart to confirm that our feelings couldn’t be replaced by other individuals and gaining a healthier, more independent outlook. SO! We are very happy and I’m sure you’re being hearing more about him. Monday-I got up and had my 8:00 Art. It’s in my old psychology classroom, so I went to sit where I always sat and my friend Tiffany was there. So I’m glad I have a friend in that class. I then saw a guy friend Jeremy, of my sisters. I’ve only met him like once. But I saw him look at me weird, and then keep looking at me confused. I knew immediately he mistook me for Kate, but that’s ok haha. I’m used to be knowing by her here. I actually got yelled at from a car while crossing the street if I was a Whitworth, he said I looked just like her haha. This is a daily part of my life here. Art was fine, my teacher seems ok. I can tell he tries to be funny, and he’s mot, but that’s fine haha. I love art and so I’m looking forward to this class. Immediately after that I had my psychology class. It’s in Chambers Hall, a building I’ve never been in before, and I’m a little scared of it haha. I couldn’t find my class, but it’s not because I’m stupid, it’s because the building is CONFUSING! But a professor helped me out. My psychology class is developmental and I’m real excited about it. I already LOVE the topics we’re starting to cover. My teacher reminds me of Mrs. Terri Reed SO much! Then I had to head straight to English class. My teacher is a little wacky and seems like she could be from Macnolia….haha…but she’s nice. Then I met up with Madalyn and Riane for chapel. Chapel was good, TONS of people of course haha. Then I had “free-time” until work. I worked on unpacking because I didn’t get much of anything done before going to sleep Sunday night. It was my first day of work. I was nervous, but ready. It went well. Carrie, the sophomore that works with me and is really nice was there. She has been “training” me this week. However, my “training” isn’t very thorough. But I know how to work with the files, I’ve been making on-campus deliveries, handling the mail, and I know how to do some stuff with our Legacy group request forms. It’s all kind of confusing, but that’s ok. Right now, theres this BIG project we’re working on that basically requires me to look at almost every file we have, which is A LOT, and search for several pieces of info. Like if we’re the executor of their will, if we have copies of whatever they’ve contributed to ACU, its real lengthy and tedious, but I don’t mind. I am the main student working on it, and I know how to do this, so if all else fails I work on that. And then we always check paper in the copiers, check the coffee maker and set it up for tomorrow, check the cokes, hit lights, lock doors, etc. I like it. After work Madalyn came over and we watched Maury while I unpacked and cleaned. Then we met Riane for dinner. It was good to see everyone.
Tuesday-My day again starts at 8:00 with biology. My teacher is crazy! She requires us to stand up every 20 minutes or so because people’s attention span is only 12 minutes. She talks about random things. Her outlines are frustrating, because they’re keyword outlines for our notes, and they make little sense. Hopefully, after my first test I’ll figure out her system. I’m supposed to go by her office by the end of this coming week so that should be interesting! After biology I went to Madalyn’s room while she finished getting ready. We have Bible this semester together and it’s amazing. We’re so excited. Then there was chapel and lunch. I rushed to my room, grabbed a leftover burrito, and left again for my 12:00 speech class. My teacher is a young, pretty woman, so all the guys are heaven. She seems like a great teacher, but the guys are going to have to stop being so lame haha. Then I had work again. I came back to my room and did a little work before going to the office at 2:00. It was good. Same sort of stuff. Madalyn and I chilled in my room working and stuff until our FIRST SING SONG meeting!!! It was short and just boring business stuff. So that was that. Got back to my room and spent about a little over an hour talking to Keith after my shower. He was doing great. He feels good about all of his classes EXCEPT Astronomy…lame…haha. He had to choose between several courses under a required subject and that was the only one available with his schedule, he is not happy haha. However, he is working with his advisor on other possibilities, because he won’t do good if he’s not excited about it, if we waited until next semester he could take another course under that same required field and actually LOVE it, so we shall see. After we talked I took a shower and went to bed!
I shall stop because I’ve said too much! But I will blog more often I promise, just be patient because I barely have ANY free time when I’m not studying, but I’ll do my best. Love you all!
