Ethnos

WOW! This was quite an experience! It has been a little while now since this event actually took place. It ruled my life for a lil over month, but it was worth it. This was a culture show at our school where TONS of different culture groups put on dances from different parts of the world. I was in the Swing Dancing group of 5 couples. It was an intense experience that taught me so much! I loved getting to meet all the different people! Backstage, at rehersals, in the waiting ballroom, it's like we all were automatically friends and loved being together. It was amazing!
The week of was MADNESS! My group had a practice Sunday and Monday night for 2 hours. That was pretty much what happened about 3-4 times a week for the past 4 1/2 weeks. Tuesday and Wednesday we had the major rehersals with ALL the different groups in Cullen. Those took forever! They started at 6 and the Tuesday night I got back at 12:30AM, Wednesday night I got back at 12:00AM! Curfew was excused cause it was an ACU event. Then Thursday was the dress rehersal. THAT was fun! We did the whole thing twice through. It went faster because everything was going at the real speed it would be and that was good. We had our hair all done like the 40's hairstyles. It was so cool.
THEN Friday came the big show! Because I only have my one class at 8:00AM on Friday...I was able to stress about the show all day haha. I had to start curling my hair and getting ready at 4:00. Kate was taking me to Cracker Barrel at 5:00 to celebrate before the big show. I was so excited because it had been a long time since we had gone there. I had to be at Cullen at 6:30 and I was anxious. Dinner was interesting. Our waiter was completely incompetent. I was shocked...he actually brought me Iced Tea with NOOOO ice in it. He totally messed up our very simple order...and TONS more. BUT my spirits were quickly lifted!!! I looked to my left, looked back at Kate, and then pulled a double take CAUSE I SAW MY MOM THERE!!!!!!! I was SO shocked! Her and my Gramma drove up JUST to see me in my show! It was so amazing! I was so nervous because they were there. But it went well. I also got to be in the opening scene for the Latin dancers. That was fun. We were part of the jamcircle and then there was this crazy awesome fight we got to be in. It was fun! The whole show went great! My biggest fear was the lift...it turned out GREAT! I landed it and everything! I was happy!
Saturday I went out to breakfast with my mom, gramma, and Kate. It was YUMMY! I had pancakes and sausage, it's been a while since I had that. Sadly, we didn't get to do much after that with our family. They had to head home. I honestly don't remember how I spent much of the afternoon. But I'm sure it was good. I had my second and last show that night. This was the night that all of my friends came. I hate to say I think it was a little better, it was FUN, but I wish my family could of seen it. We got pictures and everything before hand. And then we had the show and it was amazing. Again, I got the lift. The Latin dance and fight was WAY crazier! We added some more dancers so the jamcircle was better. Then, the fight was madness. The girl I fought with accidently fell down and it was CRAZY! I had so much fun! I chilled with my gals and then That night there was a major dance party in town...its a drug and alcohol free dance party that the Latin dancer guys put on. SO FUN! It was an amazing experience! I wish everyone could have seen it! I'm going to try to load the pics and videos! Love you guys!

Last Weekend...

This past Friday I am headed to Chapel and get a random text from my girlfriend Riane asking when I got done with classes. I only have my 8:00 so I was already done and was curious. I figured she just wanted to chill. WELL NO! haha. At chapel she asked me if I wanted to go home with her for the weekend, her and Madalyn were going to! haha! It sounded like SUCH a blast to me! I was worried about my parents and then dance rehersals. But I talked to my parents and it worked out great! SO....around 3:00pm on Friday we headed off to Austin. It was my second road trip with college friends, but it seemed like my first kind of because the other was just to my home...but Madalyn was with me. I was so excited! I'm not gonna lie I was pretty tired and slept some of the way there haha. But we also belted out singing and got hit on through windows by some of the cocky guys haha. Three gorgeous gals...they think they have a chance...haha. We got there safely. Her house was amazing! Her parents were SO nice and seemed REALLY fun! They foster...so they had a 3 1/2 month baby boy who's heritage is Zambia, Africa. He was SO adorable! They also had an exchange student from Austria. She was interesting haha. We unloaded our stuff and kind of settled in. Then her mom had cooked some pizza. It was REALLY good. Shortly after that we went out....we went to Wal-Mart to return some stuff for her mom and get this...get a at home perm kit for Madalyn. She wanted me to do it! haha We OF COURSE made a pit stop to sonic...its all we do haha. That night her parents went to their highschool football game. We just watched tv while I did Madalyn's hair, chilled, facebooked, nonsense. Then her parents got home. Her mom brought Tamere (the lil baby) up for us to watch for a bit. Riane shortly got tired and handed him off to me. By the end of the weekend they labeled me the baby expert haha. Madalyn DID hold him a LIL bit..but she is NOT a baby person. She says she never wants kids...I think it will change but NOT for a LONG time! haha I got him to calm down and even fall asleep. Her parents were estatic! He did eventually wake up when Riane took him down...but it was sweet to get to hold him. One of the biggest things I miss is babies and lil kids cause those ARE NOT common to my life anymore which is SOOOO sad!
Saturday we of course slept in haha. Madalyn's hair was definately crimped...but there was a slight mishap when we were mixing the product and some of the relaxer got in the perm creme...so it was NOT as affective as it should have been. We're going to do it again. Madalyn and I shared a bed...she makes fun of me and my lil monkey Cocoa I sleep with...BUT she got pretty close to him and me in bed! hahaa. We had some cereal even though it was close to lunch. Then we drove out to this Cross Country race that Riane's old team was in. She got to see some of her friends and stuff...it was neat. I could NEVER do that...one girl she knew literally collapsed at the finish line! It's crazy! But she got fourth heh. After that...Sonic haha. Then we went to Riane's and ate leftovers and it was yummy. We chilled for just a little bit before going to Lakeline Mall. It was fun, alot nicer than Abilene hahaha. We just rumeged through stores and what not. Afterwards we went back to Riane's. After a lil bit Madalyn's friend from home that was at school not too far off came and got her for dinner. Riane and I stayed home and had a homecooked meal of chicken pot pie...SOOOO GOOD! I loved it! Then we just relaxed with her family. Her parents are SO funny! Again, I got Tamire! Riane would hold him but didn't handle him getting upset well. I loved holding him for SO long! I got him to play and giggle and everything! We watched the Follies video with her parents, which was their first time to see it. That was interesting and embarassing all at once hahaha! I got to feed Tamire his bottle and then burped him and put him to sleep. I got to cuddle with him for SO long I loved it! Riane's mom like fell asleep in the chair, she's exhausted since she hasn't had a baby for 16 years and is not used to his sleeping patterns, so it was nice to give her a break.
(Ok I've realized my days are off and I'm not sure when we did what exactly but I know all of this happened, I'm just not sure WHAT night things happened haha..so this might be out of order.)
One night he was brought back upstairs to us while we were hanging out and Riane held him some. Then Madalyn toook a shot. I was working on my Thanksgiving cards and I saw him start to spit up...he does that ALOT more than most babies...I slowly moved over there and was like Madalyn don't freak out and I went to wipe him up...SHE FREAKED....she started shaking and said takehim I can't do this!!!! hahahahaha I loved it so much. So I had to hurry and get him before she died and cleaned him up haha. I also just got to hold him for a REALLY long time that night. Like hours haha. I put him asleep again, walked him downstairs, Riane's mom was out and her dad was like just go lay him down in the crib on his back haha. So I did! I loved it! He was so precious! The next morning her mom was SO thankful that she had gotten some sleep for the first time that weekend! haha, I felt good knowing they appreciated me hogging him vs. disliking me haha. At one point we found these OLD shirts of Riane's that were like hip when we were 11 or something...they are these crazy shirts that look like they'd fit a baby but stretch hard core...OMG they are rediculus! We all put them on with crazy hats and took pics..then of course WENT TO SONIC just like that haha..we got ALOT of looks haha. Saturday night we watched Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen's childhood film How the West was Fun...CLASSIC! hahahah IT was SO crazy funny...TERRIBLE acting of course! haha I think they were like 10 haha. Riane fell asleep fast as she always does but Madalyn and I stayedup to watch the pitiful movie haha. Sunday we got a quick bite and then headed out after waking up. It took a while because Riane's dad was working on her car. I asked her if she wanted me to check her oil and she said no...but when she got home it was in bad condition!!! haha she should have let me haha. Anyway...the way back was good. I think in all we went tosonic like 100 times on the trip haha. Not really but ALOT. It was ALOT of fun. That night when I got back I had Swing Cats..I was exhausted but went haha. Had to for Ethnos practice. Anyway...that was my trip and it was a blast. Thought I would share!

Halloween!

Well, Halloween has come and gone! I would like to say I had some MAJOR crazy awesome plan...but I didn't. The night before Halloween, Treadway Kids, an Abilene Children's Club, came through the dorms to trick or treat. It was so fun. I put a pumpkin border around the door and homemade these lil ghosts that stuck around the trim. Then I squated in my big ol' comfy chair, in my costume, reading my history textbook to study, with my big ol' bowl of candy. I was informed REAL last minute about this so I didn't really have a costume...BUT! have no fear...I got all duked out in my Greenbay Packers shorts, Favre jersey, and hat! Thanks to my amazing poppy I own all this legit NFL gear straight from Lambo field! I looked SO cool! It was even better they had just won on Monday night in an amazing game!! Anyway...we had alot of lil boys and girls come through and it was ALOT of fun for me, plus I even got studying done!
Halloween DAY...I wore my orange striped shirt to be in the spirit..but not Satan's spirit...haha JK. When I got to chapel..I saw several of my guy friends who had costumes on..OMG AWESOME! I took a pic with Andy and will try to load that up here. It was so funny. Ate lunch at the bean. Then came to my room until my 2:00. That is U100 and as always, Dr. B ran overtime. Well today it was more than usual...and I have a 3:00...so I had to get up and walk out cause my 3:00 is clear across campus and I CAN"T BE LATE or my teacher is not happy haha. That is Bible. I really enjoy this class. It seems FOREVER long...but I like my teacher alot and we have VERY interesting discussion. We are in Luke right now. After class....I met up with Madalyn. We had a mission to accomplish. My ONE college GO CRAZY rebellious act! And if I may say, it's NOT that big of a deal considering what most do haha. There was a sale going on at this place Sacred Art here in Abilene. For only $13, you could get pierced anywhere above the waist...scary to think of the others yes? haha. ANYWAY! haha I GOT MY CARTILEDGE PIERCED!!! I did alot of research on the process, whats best, and the actual place and person. SO I was even responsible while rebelling haha. We had to wait a long time! There were alot of people there because of the sale. At one point we left, ate at the bean right quick, and came back. When we get back it wasn't MUCH longer. When we got in there...the guy was dressed funny...they all had costumes. He spent a little of time just preparing the different things. He was nice and funny. Everything was very clean! Then it began. He made me take a deep breath in, then out meaning prepare I'm about to hurt you, and he stuck me with the needle!!! It hurt, yes, but I could still feel the needle. THATS what hurt more, he had to push through the back of my ear. Madalyn's eyes kept getting big which I'm not going to lie, made me nervous. Then the MOST PAINFUL part happened. He had to close the ring and adjust it. THAT was terrible because I was so tender. BUT, it was worth it! I love it so much! So then Madalyn and I headed back to campus. Then the plan drama began. We had an option of an ACU student party at this barn and haunted house thing...or just this Haunted House in Abilene. It took FOREVER to try and make a plan with Riane and Amanda. THEN they ended up bailing on us and just watching a scary movie and making cookies. That was fine I guess, Madalyn and I just wanted to DO something cause it was HALLOWEEN!!!!!! SO! We got "dressed up". I wore this peasantish outfit and repeatedly qouted.."please sir, can I have some mo" she wore this goofy sweater with a goofy hat and painted a lil nose and whiskers...she was so cute! So we got ready and then went to pick up this guy Sam, a friend of ours, from the Library area. His costume was a seriously injured arm...he had this fake, disgusting thing where he arm looked sliced open and showed the bone...blood everywhere..it was funny haha. So we drove to try and find the haunted house...we failed haha. Instead we drove to wal-mart because madalyn wanted some pita pockets haha. So we went to walmart...all of us got something random. I got my wound saline to clean my piercing. Sam just got beef jerky haha. But we kinda goofed off and stuff and I had fun! Then we had to go back to the dorms cause of curfew. It was a fun night...not THE BEST Halloween, but my piercing is surely memorable! much love

Homecoming Weekend

This weekend has been full of fun and excitement since it is Homecoming here at ACU. Friday I had a normal start to my day. Went to english class, but I got out early which was amazing. I cleaned my room and stuff before chapel. It was a special Chapel for Homecoming so there was a stage with a circus tent over it and then as a background...it was neat. We had our normal Friday praise day, announcements, and prayer, then they did some special Homecoming presentations. After Chapel I ate with my girls and some of Amanda's friends from Austin. It was fun. Then I went and took a long nap which was REALLY nice. I did do some history reading first though and would wake up periodically to read more. haha. Before dinner I just did some random stuff in my room. Met up with Madalyn to get dinner at the Bean to go. Tonight was JamFest here on campus. There were ten groups that performed and it was a HUGE variety. My favs were of course my friends that I actually knew haha. Andy and Stephen, two brothers from Cali played together and rocked. THen a local band I've talked about before, The Rocking Extensions were the grand finale. But there was alot of talent or pure entertainment that just made it fun. We left a little early to go and see a movie..TONS of people we knew were going. Mum and Gramma were coming in, but they were heading to bed. So we went and saw the movie, came back, and most went to bed. I however, chose to stay up on the computer until 3ish. Why was this a bad idea you ask...

I had to wake up at 8:45 (or at least I thought) because Kate was going to be in the Homecoming Parade. However, I ended up being outside way longer than I needed to be waiting, but thats ok. Mum and Gramma met up with me and brought McDonald's breakfast for us all..YUM! Then we sat and waited forthe Parade to start. It didn't take long and it was fun. I took alot of pics. Then Kate's group came about. They did AWESOME! There was a carnival theme and they were like clowns and had this awesome litle beetle they made. They did GREAT! I spent the afternoon with them. I honestly don't remember what we did for lunch. haha. But...we did go to the Homecoming game together. It was alot of fun. Mum bought me a Homecoming T-shirt and we got paw tats on our faces and free foamy things. It was fun! She spoiled us! We got naochos too! Madalyn, Riane, and Amanda came sat with us a lil before half time. It was fun. We ended up leaving early even though I didn't want to cause Riane was our driver and she wanted to. Too bad! But...in just a few minutes I ended up meeting back up with them to go to dinner at Cracker Barrel. OMG was it good. I LOVE their Chicken & Dumplings. Mum and Gramma left after that. I'm glad they made it home safe! I spent some time back in my room after using my meal plan to get groceries. Then I went to Madalyn's to play guitar hero. I had only ever played two songs...so I wasn't too good, she made fun of me! heh. But I forgive her. Then we watched Maury..OMG it was so funny. We are slightly addicted and I know that you all wil lfrown upon that. However, I watch it to see people to pray for and learn from their mistakes. heh After FOREVER!!!! we went up to Riane and Amanda's room. They take forever to get ready ALWAYS! heh. We were going to this guys Adam's house for a smore night. I "knew" him but we weren't good friends, so it was nice cause I formally introduced myself. He is a real nice guy and I felt bad cause the people were not being exactly respectful..it WASNT a party or anything like that...but they just weren't very nice. Trash was left everywhere so I helped him clean up. Then we got back in time for curfew. I had signed out and was staying In Madalyn's room. Our plan was to watch this movie with the other girls Riane, Amanda, Tiffany, and Lizzie. Again it took FOREVER! We finally went upstairs to see ifthey were ready at like 1ish AM. Amanda still wanted to shower! OMG it was crazy. FINALLY around 3ish we started it. The movie was Sybil, the true story of the most recorded multiple personality case. SO interesting! I dozed off at one point, but saw most of it. We went downstairs around 6:30ish. YEAh! I was pooped!

Sunday morning..or later that morning...I got up around 9:45 to go to my room and get ready for church. Kate was picking up Madalyn and I to go to Highland Church of Christ at 10:45. Madalyn didn't make it. Church was alright, I probably won't go back, but it was ok. We got to see alot of people. The speaker was interesting, but had SOME good points. I enjoyed the singing. Afterward, Kate brought me back to meet Madalyn. We were going to the Aida Homecoming play. She wasn't answering so I had Kate drop me off at her dorm. I went to her room, roommate let me in, yeah she was still sleeping. haha So I woke her up, she got ready quick, and we went to the play. We didn't get to eat and we were 10 minutes late haha. So when we got back and changed, we were starving and went to dinner at the Bean. It was yummy. I spent the rest of the evening in my room catching up on some history reading. So thats my weekend. haha. It was really nice to have my mum and gramma come visit.

Today nothing much has happened. My English teacher didn't show at my 8:00 so after 15 minutes we took off haha. Math was fine. Chapel good. Ate lunch in my room...YUM! Did some history reading again but fell asleep...missed my Bible class! OOPS! I didn't hav e U100 because it was just registration for next semester advising and I think I'm in a good place so yeah. Watched maury..funny! We qoute it alot haha. Went to dinner, Morgan ate with us..he's such a sweet guy. Came back to my room...and I'm going to start some school. Tonight we're going to Anson...YIKES! I might not make it alive! love you all and will write soon!

Mid-Term...

So this week is mid-term week. All my tests aren't technically mid-terms, they're just a quarterly exam that are really hard, but not as steep of a grade. Still very important. I had THREE and a major paper! I got through all the tests and just have to finish up my paper tonight. I'm a little nervous because I missed peer review...but I think I should be ok. I feel pretty confident about most of my tests. We shall see.

Sunday was pretty whatev. I slept in, then went and grabbed to go lunch from the Bean. I did ALOT of school. In the evening I went to Hope by myself. It was weird cause NOONE I knew was there, but it was good. I ate dinner there (baked potato) but I had to rush for Swing Cats. I went to the beginners section hoping to get better at the Lindy Hop...but it got boring cause it was SO basic..so I ended up doing more instructing and helping than anything, but it was alright. After that I spent my whole evening doing school, bluh.

Monday I don't really remember. I had english where we worked on drafting our next paper. It is a classical argument paper and I'm using abortion as my topic. Came back and did some prep for my math class. Math was fine. Chapel was normal, just a speaker. Went to the Bean for lunch. Before U100 I spent the next 1 1/2 reading for Bible out in the courtyard of campus. The weather has been so beautiful like allthe time. IF it rains, its at night or during a class heh..I've barely had to walk in the rain. Right now it's been so perfect with like the perfect temperature, it's awesome. Then I went to U100...we have begun the process of registration. It's SO complicated and overwhelming. Looks like I will only be takign 16 hours next semester, hopefully my classes won't be any harder than this semester. Turns out the history class I'm in was originally on my schedule for my JUNIOR year! yeah its been rough haha. Bible had a pop quiz, but I got it all right! haha. That night I think is when I was getting ready to go see Kate at the Kojie's vs. Siggies game..BIG DEAL. Kate had to dress up crazy like and they have to make a huge entrance. As I'm getting ready to go, Barron from Swing Cats calls saying Ethnos practice in 20 minutes, I need to come or I wouldn't be able to do it much. FRUSTRATING but we had to audition Thursday! SOOO I went. It ended up where we still had to pick a song...SO! I take off running from the theater...head to the field just in time to see Kate's crew come in...get pics...got to hug her..then ran back!!! I ended up leaving there at 10:30 to watch the game cause I was just sitting there as they listened to different music, it was lame, cause we weren't learning anything so I left. It was fun! Madalyn met me...we got drinks...took pics...Kate was crazy of course! I am now leaning more toward pledging. But yeah that was that..we all had to leav eat 11:25 cause curfew, me b/c I'm freshman, Kate cause pledges can't do anything for club after 11:30.

Tuesday I was up in the wee hours before actually going to bed and got to be the first to tell my mommy Happy Birthday..that wa cool. Then when I actually woke up I went to history..lame. haha. Then met Kate to call our mum to sing to her. Kate lost her phone at the game so I couldn't call her and was afraid she'd forgotten, but she didn't. We called and it was funny! Mom was glad. It was fun. Then I went to math...we took a quiz which I did great on. Then just did math heh. Chapel was in Moody...we had our small group chapels around campus..mine is now The tough Questions. VERY interesting questions about doubting God and how do we know our faith is real..intense. From there I went to the Ampatheater. Today I was fasting for National Hunger Day, ACU suggested it. Then we are taking a collection on Friday for the money we might hav espent on meals. But at the ampatheater a group of us were getting together to spend our meal time in prayer and discussion over the topic specifically relating to Africa. It was amazing. After that I went to the library and studied for history until psychology. We had the Sexual Education class...SO interesting haha. I find the whole class so fascinating! After class...um...I went with Madalyn to get her drink and our play tickets. She thought we had to buy them at the civic center where it's showing, but NOPE haha. I started not feeling so hot so I went ahead and had to eat something small at this point (3:40ish). Came back to my room to study. Then at 6:30 went back to the ampatheater for our dinnertime prayer and discussion. Madalyn, Riane, and Amanda came this time. It was an awesome group of girls and it was so inspiring. God really touched my heart with the blessings I have, the concerns for those less fortunate, but mainly the fact that I need to hunger, feel empty, and hurt when I'm spiritually starving MORE than my physical concerns. After that, again to my room to study. Around 9 I went to another Swing practice for Ethnos. It was good, we actually learned some of the dance. Then went back to study around 11. Like really its madness with my 3 major exams and my paper. I didn't lay down for bed until 3AM....

Wednesday I did not have a good start to my day. I woke up at 7 to get ready for my 8:00...I dont remember much except I thought I woke up, Kimber talked to me some, but I felt horrible and couldn't get up. I meant to just lay down longer and go to classin sweats...NOPE! heh I woke up around 10:20 missing both my english and math class. Math wasn't such a big deal, we were just reviewing...but English was peer review of our paper..so that wasn't good. I e-mailed my professor and he took a glance at it, but could only say so much cause he was the final grader. But anyway...when I got up..I looked like and felt like death. I turned to look at Kimber and she goes "oh my gosh you do not look normal! haha My face was WHITE, my eyes puffy like I had been crying all night even though I hadn't, and I had MAJOR dark circles under my eyes. Not cool! Make-up helped some, but not much. I went to chapel, met up with the girls. Went to lunch at the Bean. I had that feeling where the thought of food makes you feel sick, but you KNOW you NEED to eat...not fun. I think it was from the fasting the day before heh. But yeah I started to feel better some after eating but it took a while. I then came back to my room to study until U100. Class went well, more registration. Bible...had very interesting discussion. Then study time. At 5:30 I had another Ethnos practice. Then went to the library to meet Riane and Madalyn to study for psychology exam. But instead we ended up watching Top Model while studying THEN to the library haha. Sam, this guy I kinda got to know finally came too. Dave never showed. It was fun. Came back and did history studying...

Thursday (today)I got up early for my 8:00 history class in which we had a textbook test. This sound sminor...BUT ITS NOT! This teacher is super hard and it takes so muc htime to prepare! Lecture was pretty interesting, but I was distracted by my fear of the test heh. I think I did ok. I'm always like one of the LAST people in there, but I don't care. We got out a little early, so I went downstairs to this den to study for my math midterm. Then went to class and asked a few questions. Then took the test. I feel GREAT about it! Then I went to my room for just a little bit before chapel. Today was small group Chapels and I go to Social Justice Chapel. The singing and speaker were great. I ended up signing up to help collect money at the end of chapel tomorrow and for the social justice volleyball team. We're throwing a fundraisor tournament and want a team to play. It should beinteresting since my hand makes me nervous..oh well. Then I got to go lunch from the Bean. I load up so I have leftovers to have in my room, but look like a pig haha. I came back to study for psychology midterm. The lasagna was REALLY good!!! And I got this YUMMY pasta dish from the Vegan place...oh my was it nice. Then psychology class...test..I feel pretty good I suppose. We shall see. I am anxious about all of my scores. Then I went and got drinks with madalyn to celebrate being done. Then we came back to watch Dr. Phil..crazy angry kids. Dr. Phil just basically repeats what the people say and kind've retell the problem without actually helping them at all haha. Then we watched Oprah. This lady that was secretly spending TONS of money without her husband knowing it and they were in massive sebt soon to loose home. It was crazy. Then Madalyn had to meet a kid for class, so I came to my room and watched Maury while doing stuff. It is SO funny! She joined a bit later until dinner. After dinner I stayed in my room until Ethnos practice. We had our "rehersal" that we just learned about and only had half a dance for but it was cool. I like it so far. Then I RUSHED over to Mabee where we watched the office in that one guy Sam's room. His roommate happened to be Morgan another one of our friends who I really like. Then I came back to finish my English Paper. Then I spent a whole lot of time writing this. And I am done. I need to sleep! haha and You are all tired of reading if you didn't quit already. I REALLY will try to do this more often, but theres always something making it hard! haha Follies, midterms, homecoming week, whatev haha. Thanks for putting up with me and pretending to be interested! love love!

Not enough time in a day...

Sorry!!! It has been forever! I can't possibly catch you up on everything and I feel horrible about that! I first want to say, in my last blog I apparently concerned some (mum), with my comment about Friday nigth..."never do that again". That was simply in regards to the people I was with. They were nice just very weird and it was awkward. I thought people I KNEW were hanging out and it was alot of people I didn't! So yeah thats that.

Um, this past weekend I went to AUSTIN! It was with some people from Swing Cats here at ACU and we went to a dancing workshop. The teachers were amazing and famous from NY, teachers who traveled all throughout Europe teaching Swing Dancing...it was an incredible experience! I loved it! I didn't KNOW anybody going except a guy I know through Kate, his name is Barron and he rocks. Otherwise...it was a new world for me haha. We got there Friday night and after checking into the hotel we went to the FED where there was a dance going on. I was nervous because I DIDN"T know ALOT going into it and so I didn't WANT to dance...but I did haha. Different people ask and its hard to say no. That ended a little afte 1AM. Then we went back to the hotel and went to bed, which took a while cause four girls all needed showers! heh. Woke up 8:30 to get ready and grab breakfast. Got to the FED at 9:45 and started classes. They went until lunch from 1-2, then classes again until 6. There was a break for dinner but then another evening dance with live bands. We went to Chili's and were ALL so exhausted! We took a short break at the hotel before returning to the dance. Went there from 10-1:15. Then Sunday...We went back to the Fed for more classes. I only got the beginners packet so I was just observing classes today. I ended up doing one though haha. It was a hip-hop class, but like a Jamaican dorm. It was awesome!!! We left Austin around 5:30 I think. I was exhuasted!!! And sore! But it was a great experience! I got ALOT of compliments from the guys I knew and from those I didn't about how good I did, not just for a beginner, so that was REAL encouraging. We created a secret group called F.U.S.S. where we get together during the week to swing, not as Swing Cats where we're teaching people, just to get our dance on. It's pretty tight, I feel elite! haha. We met this past thursday nigth and it was fun!

This week has been alright. ALOT of school as usual. I had a major history exam which is always intemidating. Math and Bible quizzes. Just alot of homework. Last night (Friday night) was a blast though!!! First of all, Jessica, Madalyn's best friend from home came in from Baylor for the weekend so she was with us the whole evening. We met for dinner and it was my first time to eat in the Bean Sprout, I liked it! Then we headed to Putt Putt! The main reason we were going was because this band The Rocking Extensions was playing there. It is made up of several ACU students, a student from LCU, and a senior in highschool. They are SO GOOD! They have a formal cd and everything which I have now haha. They played last week in the Bean Sprout where I introduced myself. Yesterday I found them all on Facebook, so we're friends on there. After the show last night though we went to talk to them, which means I DRAGGED Madalyn over there haha. We got to talk to them all for a bit, I talked to Morgan for a bit (he remembered me from Facebook), and then the lead singer for like 25 minutes. He thought we were REALLY funny he said, but he also couldn't tell when we were being sarcastic and when we weren't. haha. We played Putt Putt during the concert and I won!! It was alot of fun. Our whole group was there but they played right behind us cause they got there later. Then we left from there and went to Oplon Dance Hall, the two-stepping place. When we got there at 10, we only had 30 minutes until it closed haha. But it was worth it. ALOT of students were there so it was FUN! I stood around for a long time just talking with everyone...it was getting close to the end and I was getting mad. I was like "I will NOT be happy if I paid $4 just to stand here!" haha Then the last song started...I was getting sad...heh...THEN! from across the room I made eye contact with Colt...a freshman here at ACU..he is like one of the cooler guys that everyone knows and he is "popular", but REALLY nice! He started walking over and I was like "Madalyn! I just made unintentional eye contact with Colt and I think he is headed this way!" FYI we didn't really KNOW eachother yet...he knew Riane though so we knew of eachother. But he came up and was like "who wants to dance?" Jessica and Madalyn both looked at me and he just put his hand out...haha. I was like YES! haha So it was funny, he helped me since it had been so long since I had done it..then we small talked. haha. He was a good leader. Then the song ended and I was very thankful, he was like Sorry I didn't come sooner. SO! My money was worth it cause I got a dance in and the girls were jealous haha. We left there and kinda drove around. We showed Jessica the sites...then ended the evening.

Today...I slept in of course. Don't have any major plans. I'm supposed to be meeting Riane and Amanda for lunch soon...then who knows. They take forever though Soooo I hope we make it before the Bean closes! After I probably just need to stay in and do school. Saturday nights are always more mellow than Friday nights. OH YEAH! We had our tatoo club last night! We all put on fake tats, generally in the same vicinity...it was tight. They are all so lame so its really funny. I just had two roses on my wrist. Again, I need to see if I can get pics up on this thing! Ok well I am going to go..I REALLY will try to get better about this so it can be like a daily thing, not so much at once, and better stories! Love you all!

Full of Follies

I wanted to take a bit of time to re-cap my weekend. This weekend we had Freshman Follies, a production of different groups from the Freshman dorms and some solo specialty acts. As you know I was a co-director for our hall, so having 25ish girls that are dependingon you is slightly stressful, but you know me, I function well if stressed and rushed heh. It was a VERY interesting process, but most of all I love how I met the majority of the hall and got to make some new friends. It's awesome! Our show went really well!!! The entire show was great and had a large variety of types of shows put on. However, I heard alot of people who did and did not know me bot hsay they thought our show was the best of all the girls!!!! I was so psyched. Friday my parents and gramma got into town. We went and had dinner at Crackerbarrel, SOOO good. I had chicken & dumplings and hashbrown casserole! YUm! Then they brought me back to campus. I had to be in Moody by 7:00 for the 8:00 show. Our act was the LAST girl act...so yeah we got to chill a LONG time in there. We did different stuff...played cards...goofed off...made alot of new friends...practiced...chilled. It was fun! Then we went on! We did SO good! After our act we stay close to stage because we all go in for the finale...BLUH! we did a song and dance from Highschool Musical...which is a BIG hit right now but I am not in on the excitement atall! Oh well. After the show...I came to my room to relax. I was going to go to Wal-Mart with Madalyn but ended up meeting some other friends I had made at Java City. It was a VERY interesting night, not what I expected and probably wouldn't repeat haha.
Saturday...I had to be in Moody at 12:00 for a 1:00, after that show we went DIRECTLY back into Moody for a 3:00 show. Mom brought me subway in between which I have been craving...YUM! Both of those went really well. I feel like we were quieter at the 3:00, which kinda stunk cause thats when my family was all there. Oh well. They loved it. My giant dorito bag was a hit. I'm going to try and see if I can put pics up on here for you guys who couldn't see it. After the 3:00 I felt a little famous having fans there. haha JK. My family and I took pictures..dropped off my stuff...and went to eat at the Jelly Bean, I got quiznos for dinner. We all sat and ate and talked. After that...my gramma disappeared and my parents and I sat out on the benches for my last 20 minutes of my break. They got to meet my best friend Madalyn....it was cool. Then they left for the football game. Madalyn and I went back into Moody. I was soooo pumped about the ACU football game and sad I couldn't go, cause I maybe might have possibly put $20 on the game that we would beat New Mexico...OMG we did!!!!! I was so excited. My mom texted me score updates all throughout the game...but they left early. So when the whole night was over and I was in the lobby of Nelson I saw a cheerleader....asked her what happened..and we had KICKED BUTT!!! WOOHOO! That was a division II school FYI! haha. So yeah I was siked. but anyway! We did our last Follies performance. It was such a blast and really fun. Hanging out was fun! I played volleyball, which ended up popping blood vessels on my arm and bruising it..weird! I slept alot too and even studied but just a little. Madalyn jumped off the floor of the upper section to the court with her umbrella to slow her fall...her booty is sore hahahaha. It was all in all a GREAT time. Afterward...Madalyn and I went and changed, went to Rosa's for drinks and a snack, then met our friends at Monk's. They were having this hang out thing to raise money for invisible children...it was ALOT of fun! We got back 20 until curfew. We had fun! When I got back I talked on AIM a while and then showered. Went to bed at like 2:30 or 3:00 and had to get up at 8:25...haha FUN!
Sunday: Kate picked me up and we went to meet Mum, Pops, and Gramma for breakfast at Crackerbarrel. I had biscuits & gravy, hashbrown casserole, and an egg...what I ALWAYS get and LOVE! It was yummy! When we left there it was our goodbye. They headed home and I came back to my dorm. I think I took a nap until lunch...but not quite sure haha. Yeah I think so..then I met my friends for lunch. After that I did work in my room until church time with Kate at Hope Church of Christ..which I LOVE! Church was really good. I liked the speaker, he was ayoung and married only a year, VERY energetic speaker. At first it was a little much, but it was just so refreshing to have someone TRULY PASSIONATE speak to me about my relationship with Christ. Afterward Kate left, but I stayed to eat with Katie and some other people I didn'treally know. She brought me back to Campus for Swing Cats. It went alright. I got some BAD partners..some GOOD! So it was fun. I came back...showered...and did school.
That's my weekend!!!! Follies basically ruled it with fun late nights in between. I made alot of friends this weekend, new and better ones with what I already had. It was awesome! It was great to have my family come and visit. They got to see my new room set-up, support me in my show, meet my friends, buy me food, it was great! Tomorrow I will write about the first half of my week!

What A Failure...

I KNOW! It has been forever and I am soooo sorry! I have been SO busy you wouldn't believe. Between school, Follies, work, and a LITTLE bit of social time (basically meals)...it's madness! it has been good though! I've also rekindled and old friendship with Vanessa and talked to my WADE who is in California...which has been good to talk to him alot more. I lovethat kid. um..by the way mom...I'm going to Cali next weekend cause today I got this fortune cookie...(we get one...maybe two haha at every meal) and it said...hurry and go the coastline for good memories...SO I"M GOING!haha. Today has been crazy! ALOT has happened sinced I last posted and theres no way I could fit it all in. A week overcap...MOnday I had classes...long day. Tuesday...INTERESTING psychology class...I loved it...better day...Class was about gender...YEAh! We've had Follies meetings ALOT! Tuesday night we rocked it hardcore! These girls are working so hard and I am sooo proud of all of them. I hope our shows go great! We just have to be clear with our words and articulate. So I'm excited! AND nervous! heh. Classes are going well. I hate my history teacher cause he's crazy mean...but everything else is great. I threw a tomato at Madalyn today...she threw it back...it hurt haha. I found inappropriate products in our parking lot...shame shame! Um...follies rehersal tonight ruled my evening. YIKES was it crazy.I was SO glad to get out of there! I haveto admit I am sooo tired, and don't know what to even say. I will be sooo much better about this once follies is over. haha. um...tomorrow I've got History, math, and psychology. I've got my first big english paper due friday...its going really good. I've loved the topic of analyzing advertisements and really enjoy this paper. I did good on my first math EXAM...the bigger tests and I'm so glad since I hate math! hahaUm...I dont know what to talk about. Basically I am doing Follies. haha. I am doing great with my friends. Madalyn, Riane, and Amanda are the best girls ever!!! Madalyn and I go driving alot which is nice...like we'll go to sonic for drinks...then we cruise around a bit to chat. Or we end up busting our in song which is JUST as awesome. I'm sad cause I don't have much TV time and if I do its AFTER all my shows come one. But I will eventually try to watch them online. Ok well...I guessthats all I can say now. I will try and do this daily so its better! sorry it was so scattered and lame...love you all

The First Half of My Week

Hey Everyone! So to catch you up on my week...

Sunday Night: Well I went to church with my sister at Hope. Well I drove myself, she got dropped off a little late. Church was good. When we left there we hurried to grab a bite to eat, because I had swing cats at 7:00pm. We got Chicken E. Then she brought me to Swing Cats. It's a group that meets once a week to learn swing dancing. Eventually we get real good, might do little shows, trips, etc. There were ALOT of people there. It was the second week and I missed last week, so when they first started in this line dance thing, I had NO IDEA what was going on. Then we got in girl and guy circles to rotate partners. The first guy I got was a jerk, gave me crap about my brace, and was mean! The rest of the guys were nice though. Keith is very sweet about letting me dance with all these guys, I feel bad, but Keith says not too and eventually I will get to teach him everything so WE can swing dance together. So we got into partner stuff, some steps I already knew, so it was really fun.

Monday: I don't really remember. haha. I had English, Math, U100, and Bible. English was VERE interesting. We watched a video about analyzing women in advertisments and what they say. It was..well yeah...interesting. In Math I did REALLY good on my test. In chapel we had this lady who came as a guest speaker, she was REALLY funny and spoke shortly about loving one another, spreading God's love to strangers, friends, enemies, peopel from different backgrounds, ect. That night we went to her lecture in Moody for an hour. You get 2 chapel credits. She was good. She went a little over and it was ALOT, but good. We had a follies meeting tonight. We ended up going a little over an hour. OMG it was crazy, I kind of feel like we overwhelmed the girls with too much choreography...and I think the other leaders were a little more agressive than they need to be, but we're ALL going to work on that. Afterward we had to have a directors meeting with the co-chairs of the event. Due to time, we have to combine our act with the other end of our hall, and we have a top limit of 3 minutes. OMG We had to cut SO much! We talked with the other directors and we're going to use our script...but it will hopefully go smooth. I'm worried the other two directors are feeling like we're better then them, but I don't want there to be "them" and "us", So hopefully we will do ok.

Tuesday: Today I had history, math, and psychology. History was interesting actually!!! We watched a movie about American coal mines and the life of the workers. It was real interesting, they had survivors talk and this one guy CRACKED ME UP! Math...bluh. Psychology, interesting but complicated. We're still on how the brain works and its very interesting, but very detailed and so thats harder. I ate lunch with Kate in the Library. Afterward we made our run to Wal-Mart and hung out a bit. She then went with me to an audition for a Follies Special Act. No, I did not make it, but thats OK. I grew SO much just trying out and I'm kind've glad. I got stressed just preparing, so its better that I don't have to worry about it anymore. I don't remember what else happened. MAN! I had planned on doing this so much better...sorry I'm low on details. I've been working out everyday. Doing pretty good on eating healthy. But I can't remember what I did this night. I know I did math homework and U100 paper. I of course talk to keith every night. We didn't talk ALOT this night, because he had to get up at 5:45AM to condition with Baseball people. WOWZERS! haha

Wednesday: My day started bright and early with English. Interesting story...I walk ALL the way to class...and when I get there I remember that we were meeting out by Jacob's Ladder, an incredible sculpture here on campus with a whole special surrounding of rocks and gardens. We had class there and a real neat assignment. We had to just go somewhere in the area and sit for 10 minutes observing. For homework we have to write half a page about how it was a heavenly place and then half a page on how it was NOT. It's very interesting to me to do these analyzations. I came back to my room and did some work for Love 2 Learn. I've been doing that alot too, trying to make some money. Then I went to math. We had a quiz and I did REALLY good on it, I got everything right. If you don't know, this is a big deal to me cause I HATE math and it's always been my biggest struggle. So this was awesome! After math I of course had Chapel. They've started a new chapel system, Tuesday through Thursday we do different stuff. Today we had a prayer session in Moody. Everyone goes, we sing, and you are motivated to pray alot, but theres also tables and faculty all over to lift up prayer requests. It was reallllly neat. Then I went to lunch with the gang at the Bean. We had a fun lunch. Left there to go to my room to work on some stuff. Then I left a little early for U100 to stop and say hi to Kate in the Library. U100 was awesome! We had a great discussion and people REALLY opened up and were honest about stuff and we all left with great thoughts in our minds. We ALWAYS get out late though, so I barely make it to Bible. I got there right when it started. Bible was good. We had some lecture, some INTERESTING discussion, a quiz that I did GREAT on, and it was nice. Left there to work in my room. I took a short nap. Then went to dinner with the gang. After dinner I came back to my room cause I had a big history test the next day. I got to talk to Keith quite a bit. It was really nice. Then I just worked in my room on a variety of stuff. I worked out and showered. Did more school and then slept. Before I got in bed though, I decorated our mirror and put up a banner because tomorrow was Kimber's birthday. It was fun.

Thursday (Today, barely): Today I got uplater than I intended. I got ready pretty rushed and went to history. Our teacher wasn't coming, it was just his daughter there to proctor our test over our chapter book we've been reading. OMG was it a long book. I did good on the test I think! There was only one question I wasn't sure about...so I'm glad. I got out by 8:15 and decided to check out the breakfast at the bean. I'm trying to eat healthy so biscuits and gravy or waffles were out of the question. I got this breakfast burrito, some fruit, and a bit of cereal. It was good! I came back to my room and worked on my math. I went to class at 9:30. Class was ok...I like it that I'm understanding it right now. I've got a test in about a week so I've some studying to do. Then I left from there back to my room and dropped off my books. Checked my e-mail and what not. THEN went to Chapel. We had seperate group chapels. I went to Social Justice Chapel with kate. It was really neat. I am real interested in Invisible Children, and other social justice groups. I left there, went to the Bean, and got a to go salad to meet Kate in the Library. We ate lunch there together. After I ate, I did some reading for psychology. Then I came back to my room to get everything I needed for class. Psychology was fun, we talked about sleep, dreams, and levels of consciousness. I found it so interesting. After that I left for my room. I took a NAP!!! OMG I loved it. Riane called me to go to Coldstone. We were getting an ice cream cake for our friend Amanda who also had a birthday today. When we got back I came to my room and did different work. At 6:30 we left for Riane's brothers house. He had us over and grilled burgers and stuff. It was fun. The cake was so good. It was funny because Amanda was like, hey do you guys want to go to Coldstone after this? We brought the cake out and I said, we brought coldstone to you! haha! We left shortly after. Tonight was visitation. The guys came back and we chilled in Amanda's and Riane's room. We watched DOUG! OMG thats so old schooled, brought back childhood memories! I came back and wrote this then went to my follies meeting. We had to teach the girls that joined our group from the other end of the hall. It went pretty good. OMG I am tired and have alot to do. I am coming home tomorrow...which is technically today now...so I need to go! I will write over the weekend! much love

It's Been So Long

I have done terrible with this and I am so sorry! I guess I should start off where I ended, going to Oplin dance hall. We got a little lost on the way down there. It's out in the middle of NOWHERE! We had to stop and communicate between cars a couple of times and it was interesting. EVENTUALLY, we got there!!!! When we walked in, OH MY was it interesting. There were ALOT of old people there! At first we all just kind've stood around. Dave started off the dancing, and eventually we all got out there. I two-stepped with Jordan. Neither of us had ever done it before so it was funny. He did good though. I felt bad because I'm terrible about not leading. But we had fun, but the song was short. Then we did a line dance. I didn't know how, but after 3/4 of a rotation I had it! I could do it GOOD! After that...Andy and I walked off the floor and this strange guy approached us. He asked Andy if he could dance with his girl...me...I was like oh I'm not...BAM he yanked me on the dance floor! It was SOOO awkward and weird. He was a definite close talker. He is a freshman at ACU too. It was so awkward, he like got really into it, I didn't know him or what I was doing, the song lasted forever, GOODNESS it was a mess. After I walked off the dance floor I was like Andy, next time, just say NO! haha. Then I had another strange encounter from a guy that goes to Cisco Community College. He was trying to figure out where our group of girls went to college and stuff, weird! But after that they had this HUGE dance, I don't remember what it was called. We would link arms with people in a line, there were tons of lines, and we skipped around the room. Then we stopped, did theses little leg jiggles, run backward, then started it all up again. It was a blast!!! At first it was just us four girls. But then Matt came and linked arms with me, it was fun. Not long after that we did the CHICKEN DANCE! Matt and I got REAL into it haha. I was a little nervous because I was in front of a giant fan, in a dress, haha but it worked out.
When we left there the truck I was in with Matt, Amanda, Jordan, and I ended up going to a park. We had such a blast! Matt made me get on the tire swing...OMG he spun me so fast for so long! It was fun, but when I got off I felt so nautious and was walking funny haha. We all did that. We just played around on the playground. Matt tried to get up on top of the swing set. Didn't work. haha. Then we went to the field. Amanda and Jordan had a kartwheel contest to see who could go the longest. It was so funny!!!!! Then we finally had to leave cause curfew. I got back at 12:52AM. I don't remember much of that night. I pretty much just got back and went strait to bed.
Saturday, I obviously slept in. I was interupted by one of my neighbors. I had forgotten we had a Follies meeting. So I went to that and we just kinda introduced the lyrics and stuff that I wrote. Everyone loved it! It made me feel so great. I came back and just kinda chilled and re-grouped. Then Kate called. We ended up spending the day together. We ran to Chicken Express for tea, then to Wal-Mart, then back to her house. I was using her kitchen and hanging out. We watched some OC. Then we ordered Panda Express!!!!! I was SOOO excited, it was SOOO good! She had some people over and we watched a movie. It was so crazy cause one of her friends, had a friend, that happened to be my group leader at work camp in Huntsville a few years ago. It was so weird. It was neat to get to see him again. So I hung out there for a little while.
Sunday morning I got picked up by Anthony, a friend from college station, and we went church together. He wanted me to try Beltway Baptist with him. We got a little lost going there, BUT it wasn't our fault, MAPQUEST was WRONG!!! haha. So we went there. Class started...it was INTERESTING. They had a guitarist...it was hard to even hear my own voice so I felt bad for Anthony to have to hear me. We had some real good discussion there though. Then we walked over to services, OH MY. We walked in, all the lights were off. They had these blue lights that shined on the stage, which had white backdrops. There was a full out band with guitars, drums, keyboards, ect. There was even a fog machine. We sat down and just kinda observed. We both felt like we walked right into a concert, Anthony even thought it was the wrong place, but it wasn't. Then the band came out...they started screaming and then singing....we left! heh It was not a worship that we wanted to be part of or felt comfortable in. So we left and went to Red Robin. OMG that was sooo yummy! It was a real neat place, so I hope to go back there again. He brought me back and I just chilled for a while. At 4:45 Kate picked me up and we went to Hope Church of Christ. It's a small, but real neat church. We ate there and it was fun. Then they dropped me off.
During the week NOT alot happened. I mean I've been going to all my classes, we've hung out and stuff, but nothingTOO huge. It all kinda blurs together. Chapel's been good. Classes are really great. I really enjoy most my teachers. My math teacher...NOPE!!! She drives me crazy! My history teacher...he's hard to follow. At 8:00 in the morning its hard for me to stay awake to that guy. All my others are awesome!!! I often eat a smoothie or yogurt and a Special K bar for breakfast. I've pretty much had all my lunches and dinners at the Bean and I enjoy it.
OMG THE EVENT OF THE WEEK: RINGO!!!!!!! Andy and his brother got a puppy at Target...without really thinking it all through. Tuesday we went to Rosa's for Taco Tuesday and Ringo went in with us. After that we went to this lecture in Moody for two chapel credits...Ringo came there too! Then Andy and everyone else wanted to go running and play basketball. SOOO madalyn and I babysat. We went to Wal-Mart and then just played with him at Campus. It was such a blast, until Andy picked em up haha. Well, They ended up no longer being able to keep him DUH! WITHOUT even telling any of us, Stephen took him to the Animal Shelter. IT WAS A KILL SHELTER, he just didn't know that. Well, I told Madalyn we couldn't stand for this. She didn't take me seriously at first, she kind've joked about it, but I was serious about rescuing him. WELL, we put our two minds together and came up with a plan. Leaving out all the gory details, we got RINGO!!! He is currently in Lubbock with some of Madalyn's friends, and we are getting him to her cousin this coming weekend. So that was the biggest thing that happened this week, and I must say it was a pretty big thing! heh
Friday night, I went with Madalyn to a play for her theater class. It was interesting. The entire cast was made up of 3 people. It was alright, only one outstanding actor, but still it was pretty funny. Then we hung out with the gang, went to Monks coffee shop.
Today, I slept in!!! I got up around 11, I worked on the shopping cart for my boss back home. I'm trying to make some money! I could use some! Then, we all went to lunch at the Bean. We left there and I drove Madalyn, Riane, and myself to Wal-mart. We dropped off Riane, and Madalyn and I went to Ross to return some shoes, Michaels for art supplies, and Bed Bath & Beyond for her. It was fun. We went back, met Riane, and we all went to dinner again with the guys this time. We spent the evening hanging out. I came back to my room early though cause I wasn't feeling well. I got her eabout 10, took a shower, and I've been working on different stuff since.
I guess I will stop cause this is an overload of info. I should have time tomorrow to write JUST about tomorrow so you don't get so much at once! I love you all and miss you!

My last couple of days...

Hey everyone, sorry it's been a while. Something I did that's kind've big is that Kimber and I re-arranged our room! haha Yes, already. She wasn't here when we first set it up, and so this let her have more input. It's WAY more open and productive. I'll try to get pics up somehoe. Tuesday I started my first History, math, and psychology class. History started a little late. My teacher is old and weirdish, but he tries to make jokes, haha. He has a real intensive syllabus and it is going to be ALOT of reading. I hope I can keep up. Then there was the ever dreaded math class. It was my first REAL class that wasn't just intro stuff, going over the syllabus, so it was my first note taking class. I felt pretty good throughout the class even though its intimidating. I have a girl in the class thats my friend's roommate, so we're sticking it out together. I had a break between that and psychology. I cleaned up and stuff like that. Turns out there are TONS of people I know in psychology. So thats real fun. My professor plays a song at the beginning of class and it was Guns-and-Roses, Sweet Child o' Mine. It was so fun. Then we just went over his introduction, questions, the syllabus. I am SOOO excited. Dr. Beck is a great professor, so funny, which is important when I'd rather be napping mid-afternoon. haha. That night I THINK I ate with Kimber at the Bean. It's kind've a blur. That night I had my first bunch of homework. I believe this is also the night that I got Kimber to do my Hip Hop Abs with me! haha It was so awesome!

Wednesday...um...Went back to English. I really like my professor. We will be doing journals which is always good to express thoughts. It was cool cause we talked alot about rhetoric, and since I took a class on it, I knew alot and felt smart enough to be in college. Then I went back to Math. We went over some new concepts and were told to finish our 10 problems for a quiz tomorrow. BLUH. I had chapel which I haven't mentioned yet. I have chapel every day at 11:00. I really enjoy the singing and so far the speakers or guests have been great. We always get junky seats though where it takes FOREVER to get out and to lunch. The Bean hasn't been bad so far. I like it! Wednesday I left and came back to do some reading for history class. I went to U100 a little early so I could get a drink. It's in this room next to Java City so its conveinent. I also was able to get a chair with table this time. We had some REAL interesting discussion. I'm not sure how I feel about some of what was said...it was weird and some of it threw me off. I can't remember all what was said though. I will have to remember and share so I can get some other opinion's. I left from their a little late and had to RUSH to Bible, but I made it in time. There were some guys that transfered in there that sat in front of me and they were neat. We had some REAL interesting discussion about who is Jesus. If we had 5-7 words to tell someone who knew nothing of Him, what would we say. Then we were given specific situations and the same limit of words, but what we said changed according to the situation. I worked with those two new guys. We are an official group for the whole year. After some short lecture and discussion, we had this challenge. We were given 20 qoutes or topics found within the four gospels and we had to figure out where they were. First we had no help, then we got our Bibles. It was hard and interesting. We did real good, 2nd place! I left Bible done for the day. I came back and did some cleaning, school, ect. Then I left with Amanda, Riane, Madelyn, Andy, and Dave (who I met at lunch), and we all went to Southern Hills for church. They served free burgers before church. I really enjoyed the service. I also saw alot of people I knew. We left, went to sonic, and then I just came up to my room. I did alot of math work, some organizing, and some reading. During the day I had come up with an idea for Freshman Follies show and so I started writing it out. I ended up writing some lyrics for my idea. I talked to the girl in charge and she took it to the other girl for them to read. OMG they LOVED it and thought it was SO funny! So now I am helping them alot and writing the rest of the lyrics to our show and lots of the choreography and I'm so glad. Now I know it won't be lame. Dad...tomorrow I will call and tell you more details, but not too many cause I want it to be a surprise. I then hit the sack after talking to Keith.

Thursday: Started early with history class. I almost didn't make it!! At about 7:40 Kimber said, Sarah don't you have an 8:00. I FREAKED. I got up, put on clothes and took off. (yes mom, I brushed my teeth) But anyway, class was alright. It was FOREVER long it seemed. He did alot of introduction which was boring, but once he started to actually lecture about our real topic I liked it. I've got ALOT of reading for that class, but the books been pretty interesting so far. I've got until the 13th until there will be a quiz over that book, but I got a study sheet. American History II is more interesting to me than earlier years, I guess I feel more connected to it? After that I went right to math. We took our first quiz...I felt ok about it. Then we went into a short lecture, followed by working out some problems. I didn't do the BEST onthe quiz, which stunk cause it was my first college quiz, but I knew the formulas...I just had some silly mistakes. So I will be better about not rushing and checking my work. (yeah yeah mom, I hear ya! haha) After class I dropped my books by the room, then went to the student center to check my mail before Chapel. I almost didn't find my friends, but then did. We move everyday where we sit. Hopefully, eventually we will be able to sit lower where people don't talk and we can leave easier. Again, the Bean followed. I pizza and a salad. I try to eat a salad with every meal, but recently they havent had the boiled eggs out there, and that makes me sad. I left lunch, came back and did some things I needed to complete. Just e-mails, banking, mail, ect. Then I had psychology, my favorite class. It was so great! We had a great lecture and some real interesting clips we watched over people watching. It is so interesting to me!!! I came back to my room, worked out, and showered. It was a little awkward cause Kimber was in here and didn't want to do it, but she didn't watch ahahaha. Shortly after that, we had this welcome to Abilene thing. They had local restaurants, churches, and companies there with information. There was "food" but in REAL small amounts. I barely ate. I got alot of coupons though so yeah. I also got a T-shirt, flip flops, and stuff. There was a huge raffle thing, but of course like always I didn't win. Shades, the Step Group performed. The reason I stayed so long was the concert. A band I really love, Homer Hiccolm and the Rocket Boys, came to play for us! Not alot of people knew them, so I cheered load of course! I met the lead vocals and guitar, and bass guitarist...yeah I'm cool like that. My group made it a big deal, but I was like, guys they're just here hanging out over there and they're normal like me...I'll be back. They were real nice and talked with me a while. They're coming back in a month, so I'm excited. When we left there, Madelyn and I were starving. We went to Rosa's with my gift card for a small meal, the rest of them went running. It was real cool cause Madelyn and I hadn't had anytime just us, and I really enjoyed getting to know her better and talk like we did. I feel way more confident in my friendship status with them. It was good. Then we went back to Mabee to play Apples to Apples until curfew. It was fun. I came back, cleaned up, and read until Keith called. Kimber and I did get to have a short talk about some stuff and it was neat to be able to be so open and honest with eachother like a good friend would be. Then Ihit the sack. I had some weird dreams though!

Today: Again, I woke up about 20 minutes before class started and need 8-10 minutes to get there. haha I had woken up earlier, but couldn't last. For the first time I went to class in exercise capris and a T-shirt. I almost made it a whole week haha. So I was real tired in class, but made it through. It was english my only class for the day. We had a great discussion about seeing both sides of an issue and how that can help your writing. We had to write in our journals freestyle and we did an in class assignment that was fun. I guess we will see how my teacher feels about that. After class...I came back to my room...and SLEPT! Well, I tried to...but I texted my mom, dad, and then Keith, and ended up texting alot. haha Keith and I talked alot so I would doze off then a few minutes later get startled to death by phone vibrating, but it was worth it. I left in time for chapel, Kimber and I walked together. I met up with my group in front of Moody. We got better seats! Today we had no speaker, just alot of worship. It was good. I had chicken in this sauce and this YUMMY rice and broccoli for lunch with a side salad...OMG was that chicken and rice YUMMy! mmhmm. After lunch I came back still exhausted. I laid in bed doing my history reading. Of course I fell asleep, but I set my alarm so I could still wake up after a short while to be more productive. I went out with Riane, Madelyn, and Amanda to go dress shopping. We all got country dresses cause we are going to this dance hall tonight. It's a country two-step place. I am ready and now waiting on the other girls. I'm nervous and worried, cause this is not exactly my scene, but if we end up bored and its lame...we will just go somewhere else. The guys, Andy, Jordan, and Dave are going too. It should be interesting. I will let yall know how it goes. For now...I am off. I don't have much planned for tomorrow except going to Wal-mart, the post office, and who knows. Love you all and miss you!

Well I survived

Well, I've made it through all my classes my first day. I had four. I got up at 7:00 AM to clean-up and leave in time to find my first class at 8:00.

It started with English. My teacher looked REALLY young. However, he said he's been here, I believe in Abilene, for 27 years, so I guess he's older than he looked. We just went over who he is and then we went over who we are. We said our name, major, and why we chose ACU. Then we went over the syllabus. We will be writing four major papers and be keeping a journal. I really like my professor and it sounds like I really like the way he is headed. It only lasted about 35 minutes.

I left there and came back to my room for a little bit. I unloaded some books and then took off to Math. BLUH! If you don't know already I HATE math and it is my weakest subject. My teacher seems nice though. I met a friend of mine's roommate and she was cool. There were also some other people I knew in there. So hopefully we can all work through it together. We just spent 30 minutes going over the syllabus and stuff to know.

I went strait from there to opening chapel and sat with my gang. It's grown and its fun. They had all these flag presentations, band playing, people introductions, blah blah boring haha. But after we all went to eat at the Bean. We had about 12 people trying to fit in a space for 8 haha. INTERESTING!

After that I came back to my room to sleep for an hour. If a girl from my U100 hadn't called me to ask where we were meeting...I would've probably slept through it haha. But I made it just 2 minutes late and they hadn't started. We meet in the conference room at the coffee shop so its cool. This class was giving information, meeting some new people to our group, and talking about the expectations that we and our teacher had for our class. It's going to be an amazing class with great discussion. We will end up so close together as our family away from home, closer to God, and hopefully conquer world and social issues we have or will. We ran a little late so I had few minutes to RUSH across the entire campus to my Bible class.

I got there 3 minutes late but it was all good. This class is 1 hr and 20 minutes, yikes. but it went ok. We talked about the syllabus, but first he told us alot about him. He told us the most important thing to know was this, his daughter is 16 months old and her name is Brynn Kyler (which I love that name) and his wifes name is Anne. So it was neat. We then went over the syllabus and policies. After that we took role call and shared a little bit about ourselves. Then real quick he threw out the question, What was so great about Jesus that he recieved so much attention positive or negative. It got PRETTY interesting. So yeah that was good.

I came back to my room and Kimber was here. We're just chilling and about to go to dinner. Tonight Kate is coming over to watch our TV show Greek and its a blast. So I will talk to you all later! I'm going to go eat now. Love you all and love hearing from you!

So it begins...

Hey! Ok so alot has happened and I will try to sum it up. Sorry I haven't written every day like I mean to. I will just touch on the big stuff cause its late and I'm trying to go to bed early. I have 8:00's every day! woohoo right?!? haha.

Ok some major highlights....
Friday we went out to the Lake. It was SOOO much fun. It was with my U100 group. We have AWESOME peer leaders who are so great and I feel so comfortable with. We went out on two boats with tubes and knee boards and what not. It was nice. I got a little toasty, but its tanning out nicely! haha.

My first nice of 1:00 curfew we were going to play ultimate frisbee, but there were only 6 of us...not enough! haha So we played this game Apples to Apples which is HILARIOUS and it was real fun. I met three new guys and they are pretty cool. We went to WHATABURGER around 10:45. I got a shake which was yummy. Then we went back and played more Apples to Apples in Mabee lobby. I left there around 12:50 making it back in time for curfew. I walked into my room, flipped on the lights, started just setting stuff down, doing whatev. All of a sudden I turned and saw a bump in my roommates mattress!!!! YIKES! I jumped at the lightswitch and started to function much quieter! haha. It was interesting!

Last night...I went out to eat with my group. I got a good amount of mexican food and lemonade for $4.00. It rocked! haha We left there for the Freshman Talent Show. It was definately entertainging, but there was little talent haha. SOME were good, some was SCARY! haha. After that a group of us decided to play Hide and Seek on campus. Four of us girls got all ready with our glow and the dark tattoos...but then there wasn't enough people to play again. SO....We got this awesome idea! We got charcoal, marshmellows, graham crackers, and chocolate, went to the front of Nelson, and had S'mores. haha It was awesome. We sat out there for about 2 hours talking. It was great. I left there about 11:30 to come to my room. I cleaned up and went to bed fast.

This morning I failed waking up to go to church due to my alarm clock's snooze failing me. I was SOOOO sad! But I did make it to Hope tonight, which is a great little church I really enjoy. I went with Kate and Justin. Carrie and another girl showed up too. Afterwards, Kate had to take off, but I stayed with the others to eat there. They serve a free meal for the whole congregation, its awesome! We had chopped beef burgers and ice cream. It was great! Then we went and saw Justin's and Spencer's house. They had a pretty nice set up! Then Carrie brought me back to my room. I have spent the evening cleaning, organizing, and getting ready.

Tomorrow classes start. I have 8:00's every morning! Tomorrow I start with English. I have a short break before Math. Math is apparently only going to be 15 minutes, to release early for something special in Moody. Then I have chapel at 11. U100 at 2:00, and Bible at 3:00. So its a pretty full day. I will write tomorrow after Bible. Hope you guys are all doing awesome! Miss you all! Much love!

Bright and Early

So this morning started at 6:15 when my roommate woke me up saying she was off to the sun rise devo at 6:30. I freaked out and meant to have been up way earlier! I brushed my teeth, washed my face, put on pants, and left. I was a liiiitttllleee late, but it was all good. We sang and then a Bible professor spoke. He was real funny and had a great point. The theme of the week has been "Real Life" and he encouraged us to live the real life consistantly. He said that there, in situations like that devo, WAS THE REAL LIFE, and we need to take that out into the world. It was awesome. We sat out on the steps of the Bible building with the sun rising behind him and a nice breeze and doughnuts! What could go wrong? haha.

I came back to my room, straightened up, did my blog from the past few days, ran to the post office, etc. Then at 11:00 I had Moody Morning. We had another Alum speak to us. He is considered one of the brightest minds working with youth of America. He gave us five points using brainwashing/memorization techniques using each of our five fingers to help us stay strong in College.
1-God comes first (thumbs up)
2-Run away from sin ect. (pointer finger running away)
3-Surround yourself with good people (middle finger, yes we were nervous)
4-Remember your committments (ring finger)
5-You're a winner (pinkie)
He was great and real funny.

We left from there to have group time and eat lunch. We had sack lunches with sandwhiches and oreos. They were just meat and bread, but good considering. We left from there to do our service project. Our group went to the "other side of the tracks". It's the roughest part of Abilene. We did something called prayer walking. We went up to peoples doors asking if they had any prayer requests or needed help around their house, and picked up trash. We sadly didn't have barly ANYONE answer doors. One 10 yr old boy came out saying that he wanted to help, that he helped every year. It was cool. The few people we did meet were fun. And we just had a good time together. I came back and SHOWERED because the majority of what I picked up was liqour bottles and beer bottles, and some still had contents so I smelt. I then had a LONG break and by long I mean less than 2 hours, which sounds long but wasn't enough. I did some computer stuff then watched tv and "rested my eyes". My sister called me about our evening plan, woke me up, I mean opened my eyes, and STARTLED me haha.

I got picked up by the Katie's her roommates, and we went to Timmy's house for the BBQ. Kate was late cause her brownies. So when I got there it was a little awkward, but I know alot of her friends so we chatted. It eventually got really relaxing and I loved it. I had normal conversations with them and felt alot better. I met two other freshman that were invited and they're on my floor and one has the same major. It was neat. We ate different meats and chilled. I loved it! Then I left with the truck and went on a shopping trip to Wal-mart for random stuff. I feel like I'm running out of my money pops gave me, but some of its stuff that will be for the whole year. I got my bike lock mom...smart me! Everything I got was necessary! And my roommate still owes me a lil bit so thats good too. We came back and have just been hanging out. She's talked on the phone, we've talked, talked to girls, just chilled. She's now decorating her laundry bag with fabric paint. She thinks I'm crazy for all my craft supplies but loves it. She thinks I'm so organized...hahaha Surprise surprise!

Anyway thats about it. I've really enjoyed my U100. Tomorrow will be amazing and I can't wait to write about it. I will talk to you all later. I love you all and love your comments! Mom, make sure dad sees these. I want to keep in touch with him. I guess I'll text him tomorrow cause I miss his craziness. Ok well...much love you guys!

It's All a Blur

So...by my title it's clear the past few days have kind've blended together. I am going to talk about highlights from the past two days. Hope fully tonight I will be able to write about what actually happened TODAY. Once school starts I won't have my entire day planned minute by minute for me packed with stuff, so it should be easier to do this daily. Thanks for all the comments on the last blog! It means alot to see you all care and are enjoying this!

Ok so Tuesday, my first day of Welcome Week. The Opening Ceremonies were chaotic. We are all split up into tons of different groups in Moody, so it was hard finding our way around. The groups become our U100 class. This class is basically to help us do the transformation from highschool to college. It creates a family for us here and we meet weekly for spiritual and life discussion. My peer leaders were dressed in China clothes and that has been our theme. We left and spent time getting to know our group and play games. I was a little less nervous after this because it seemed I saw some potential friendships. After that was the world's biggest game of Twister ever. It covers the entire basketball court made up of over 45 Twister mats. They did a variety of ways to play. Don't worry mom, I just watched. We had some free time before eating Fajitas with our mentor groups, that was fun cause we got to know eachother more. I sat and talked more with two girls and two guys that I really enjoyed and have continued to do so. My roommate had NEVER had fajitas! I KNOW...CRAZY! She's also never been to Chic-Fil-A and I intend to be at her induction to THE REAL WORLD haha. She is from Ohio by the way, hence no Chic-Fil-A or Tex-Mex haha. ANYWAY! After that the Candlelight Devo started. We all started in Moody worshiping and stuff. Then slowly they dismissed us by section. When we walk out of the building there were people made up of upper classmen and faculty holding candles (some lit, some not) singing along the edges of the sidewalk. I got to see Kate and many others I knew of her friends. The path led to an outside ampatheater (no idea on spelling, sorry mom) where we sat in darkness praising God. The candles started being lit on the edges and the idea is the flame passes down the rows...well its West Texas, so the wind made it difficult. I did have my lit quite a few times, once for a long period of time. I did singe some hair however, which smelt bad but thats ok. We had a speaker that was amazing encouraging us to step out and be a true light in the world, on campus, at our jobs, in the dorm, ect. From there we left for our dorms for a little while. I met some of Kimber's friends (my roommate) and they stayed for a while. At 11:30 we left for the Dorm meeting...lame...haha. I won't go into that it was boring rules. But I didn't get back to my room until 12:40...and it begins!

Wednesday I got up about 8:45 to work on my room and errands I had to do. I met Kate in the library for coffee and a muffin while we used the computers in there. We seperated and I headed to Moody Morning. Every morning we just meet and worship, then different things. Wednesday we had Bob Smiley, a Christian comedian come. He was SOOO funny! He graduated from ACU and met his wife here. I loved it! Following that, we all filtered to the Speacial Events center (location of Bible Bowl...scary memories) and ate lunch with the faculty. I met an older man and don't remember his name haha, but he wasn't in my dept. so it wasn't THAT bad! haha. They had several students and faculty there to inform us on the relationship between the two and it was very encouraging. It was a Blessing lunch, they all said part of a covenant, we said a part, it was neat. We were sent from there to meetings with our individual colleges within the University. I'm in the college of Arts and Sciences. It was informative, but WAY overdrawn...not fun. Right after that there was Bingo. I actually went to play and sat with a girl from my U100. They were giving away TONS of stuff to the winners...sadly I left empty handed. We had another group session where we spent time talking about what we wanted to do with our majors, our peer leaders shared stories, information, its just discussion time. We left to eat Chinese food (our theme) at our U100 Professors house. He is Dr. Bernard and is also my advise counselor who I enjoy very much. The food was amazing and my table of girls had a very theological discussion about the church and specifically Church of Christ. Yeah it was interesting. Following that we had a in-home church service/ discussion time which I really enjoyed. From there we all went to the Paramount theater which is a very old school place in downtown. It's like an opera house and part of the ceiling it supposed to be the sky and it has little twinkling stars...it was just neat. I sat with those two girls I reall ylike from U100. We watched Mighty Ducks 2 which really took us back. We were of course cheering, quacking, making it fun. Two guys we didn't know came up and met us and sat with us. They seemed sweet and fun. Then we left, stopped by Sonic, I hung out in their rooms for a bit then came back for curfew. Called Keith, hung out with Kimber, then SLEPT! YEY! haha. I got about 4 1/2-5 hours of sleep. I will talk about today later though. For now I shall go do Hip Hop Abs and shower!

I miss you all and hope you are doing well. Feel free to share this with whoever you think would enjoy it! Keep busy mom! I love you guys!

Feeling Freshman

Well, I am at college. I have almost fully moved in. I still have some shifting around and decorating to do. Yesterday was a free day because I already had completed orientation earlier in the summer. I worked on my room, ran some errands, had lunch with my sister, shopped at Wal-Mart (of course), then tanned in her backyard. After that she brought me back to my dorm. I went and had my first meal in the World Famous Bean, which is the ACU cafeteria. They were having a banquet for orientation kids, so staff and supplies were low, but it was still good. I have grilled chicken and race covered in brown gravy and a salad. I went right after tanning so I didn't look to hott, but who cares haha. I did meet some other freshman girls that were real nice. They aren't in my dorm though. I had to go through this line for welcome week registration and met a girl real close to me on my floor that seemed sweet, but I can't remember her name! haha, thank goodness for our nametags! haha. I got some free shirts there too! ANYWAY!
After that I came back to my room and did my amazing Hip Hop Abs workout video...my abs are sore and the burn feels good! Then I cleaned up and did more work on my room, hooking up my cable and stuff. I HAVE TV IN MY ROOM..CABLE! It's nice! Some channels aren't coming through, so I still have some work to do. Then my sister came and got me and since my cable was being lame, we went to her house to watch our show Greek. Then she brought me back. When we got to my room Kimberly my roommate had three girls in here, from Color Gaurd. They were nice and we hung out for a while. After they left we just chilled and made phone calls. We went to sleep after talking, but it took a while because our lame corner neighbor apparently sleeps with their lights on ALL night. BUT, we're getting curtains up today so that should be good.
Today I slept in finally for the first time till 9:45! I made my first smoothie in my lil smoothie maker and it was soooo good! Strawberry bannana! YUm! Kimberly and I tried to get the curtains up, but ran out of time before she had to go to practice. So I built our TV Table Rack...yeah not the most structurally sound piece or work, but it does its job! haha. A little after 1PM, she will come back to change and we will go get a bite to eat in the bean together, which should be nice. Then we officially start Welcome Week at 2pm! So I will write about that later! I will post some pics up of my room soon. For now...I miss you all and hope you aren't crying every minute without me. I know life without me in it is slightly less amusing and fun...but I shall visit and talk and make up for it! Much love!_SarahCorinne
