It's All a Blur

So...by my title it's clear the past few days have kind've blended together. I am going to talk about highlights from the past two days. Hope fully tonight I will be able to write about what actually happened TODAY. Once school starts I won't have my entire day planned minute by minute for me packed with stuff, so it should be easier to do this daily. Thanks for all the comments on the last blog! It means alot to see you all care and are enjoying this!

Ok so Tuesday, my first day of Welcome Week. The Opening Ceremonies were chaotic. We are all split up into tons of different groups in Moody, so it was hard finding our way around. The groups become our U100 class. This class is basically to help us do the transformation from highschool to college. It creates a family for us here and we meet weekly for spiritual and life discussion. My peer leaders were dressed in China clothes and that has been our theme. We left and spent time getting to know our group and play games. I was a little less nervous after this because it seemed I saw some potential friendships. After that was the world's biggest game of Twister ever. It covers the entire basketball court made up of over 45 Twister mats. They did a variety of ways to play. Don't worry mom, I just watched. We had some free time before eating Fajitas with our mentor groups, that was fun cause we got to know eachother more. I sat and talked more with two girls and two guys that I really enjoyed and have continued to do so. My roommate had NEVER had fajitas! I KNOW...CRAZY! She's also never been to Chic-Fil-A and I intend to be at her induction to THE REAL WORLD haha. She is from Ohio by the way, hence no Chic-Fil-A or Tex-Mex haha. ANYWAY! After that the Candlelight Devo started. We all started in Moody worshiping and stuff. Then slowly they dismissed us by section. When we walk out of the building there were people made up of upper classmen and faculty holding candles (some lit, some not) singing along the edges of the sidewalk. I got to see Kate and many others I knew of her friends. The path led to an outside ampatheater (no idea on spelling, sorry mom) where we sat in darkness praising God. The candles started being lit on the edges and the idea is the flame passes down the rows...well its West Texas, so the wind made it difficult. I did have my lit quite a few times, once for a long period of time. I did singe some hair however, which smelt bad but thats ok. We had a speaker that was amazing encouraging us to step out and be a true light in the world, on campus, at our jobs, in the dorm, ect. From there we left for our dorms for a little while. I met some of Kimber's friends (my roommate) and they stayed for a while. At 11:30 we left for the Dorm meeting...lame...haha. I won't go into that it was boring rules. But I didn't get back to my room until 12:40...and it begins!

Wednesday I got up about 8:45 to work on my room and errands I had to do. I met Kate in the library for coffee and a muffin while we used the computers in there. We seperated and I headed to Moody Morning. Every morning we just meet and worship, then different things. Wednesday we had Bob Smiley, a Christian comedian come. He was SOOO funny! He graduated from ACU and met his wife here. I loved it! Following that, we all filtered to the Speacial Events center (location of Bible Bowl...scary memories) and ate lunch with the faculty. I met an older man and don't remember his name haha, but he wasn't in my dept. so it wasn't THAT bad! haha. They had several students and faculty there to inform us on the relationship between the two and it was very encouraging. It was a Blessing lunch, they all said part of a covenant, we said a part, it was neat. We were sent from there to meetings with our individual colleges within the University. I'm in the college of Arts and Sciences. It was informative, but WAY overdrawn...not fun. Right after that there was Bingo. I actually went to play and sat with a girl from my U100. They were giving away TONS of stuff to the winners...sadly I left empty handed. We had another group session where we spent time talking about what we wanted to do with our majors, our peer leaders shared stories, information, its just discussion time. We left to eat Chinese food (our theme) at our U100 Professors house. He is Dr. Bernard and is also my advise counselor who I enjoy very much. The food was amazing and my table of girls had a very theological discussion about the church and specifically Church of Christ. Yeah it was interesting. Following that we had a in-home church service/ discussion time which I really enjoyed. From there we all went to the Paramount theater which is a very old school place in downtown. It's like an opera house and part of the ceiling it supposed to be the sky and it has little twinkling stars...it was just neat. I sat with those two girls I reall ylike from U100. We watched Mighty Ducks 2 which really took us back. We were of course cheering, quacking, making it fun. Two guys we didn't know came up and met us and sat with us. They seemed sweet and fun. Then we left, stopped by Sonic, I hung out in their rooms for a bit then came back for curfew. Called Keith, hung out with Kimber, then SLEPT! YEY! haha. I got about 4 1/2-5 hours of sleep. I will talk about today later though. For now I shall go do Hip Hop Abs and shower!

I miss you all and hope you are doing well. Feel free to share this with whoever you think would enjoy it! Keep busy mom! I love you guys!

I was glad to see your text that you had blogged. I came to read it as soon as I got the cold groceries unloaded. It sounds like your really jumping into this college thing and having fun. I'm glad you're meeting people in the different arenas (U100, dorm, etc.) with whom you can be friends. You have a great attitude and can share it with others that are having a harder time adjusting. Enjoy these last few days before classes start and I'll look forward to reading about Kate's BBQ and the rest of today when you blog later. Love you Angel Baby!
