Bright and Early

So this morning started at 6:15 when my roommate woke me up saying she was off to the sun rise devo at 6:30. I freaked out and meant to have been up way earlier! I brushed my teeth, washed my face, put on pants, and left. I was a liiiitttllleee late, but it was all good. We sang and then a Bible professor spoke. He was real funny and had a great point. The theme of the week has been "Real Life" and he encouraged us to live the real life consistantly. He said that there, in situations like that devo, WAS THE REAL LIFE, and we need to take that out into the world. It was awesome. We sat out on the steps of the Bible building with the sun rising behind him and a nice breeze and doughnuts! What could go wrong? haha.

I came back to my room, straightened up, did my blog from the past few days, ran to the post office, etc. Then at 11:00 I had Moody Morning. We had another Alum speak to us. He is considered one of the brightest minds working with youth of America. He gave us five points using brainwashing/memorization techniques using each of our five fingers to help us stay strong in College.
1-God comes first (thumbs up)
2-Run away from sin ect. (pointer finger running away)
3-Surround yourself with good people (middle finger, yes we were nervous)
4-Remember your committments (ring finger)
5-You're a winner (pinkie)
He was great and real funny.

We left from there to have group time and eat lunch. We had sack lunches with sandwhiches and oreos. They were just meat and bread, but good considering. We left from there to do our service project. Our group went to the "other side of the tracks". It's the roughest part of Abilene. We did something called prayer walking. We went up to peoples doors asking if they had any prayer requests or needed help around their house, and picked up trash. We sadly didn't have barly ANYONE answer doors. One 10 yr old boy came out saying that he wanted to help, that he helped every year. It was cool. The few people we did meet were fun. And we just had a good time together. I came back and SHOWERED because the majority of what I picked up was liqour bottles and beer bottles, and some still had contents so I smelt. I then had a LONG break and by long I mean less than 2 hours, which sounds long but wasn't enough. I did some computer stuff then watched tv and "rested my eyes". My sister called me about our evening plan, woke me up, I mean opened my eyes, and STARTLED me haha.

I got picked up by the Katie's her roommates, and we went to Timmy's house for the BBQ. Kate was late cause her brownies. So when I got there it was a little awkward, but I know alot of her friends so we chatted. It eventually got really relaxing and I loved it. I had normal conversations with them and felt alot better. I met two other freshman that were invited and they're on my floor and one has the same major. It was neat. We ate different meats and chilled. I loved it! Then I left with the truck and went on a shopping trip to Wal-mart for random stuff. I feel like I'm running out of my money pops gave me, but some of its stuff that will be for the whole year. I got my bike lock mom...smart me! Everything I got was necessary! And my roommate still owes me a lil bit so thats good too. We came back and have just been hanging out. She's talked on the phone, we've talked, talked to girls, just chilled. She's now decorating her laundry bag with fabric paint. She thinks I'm crazy for all my craft supplies but loves it. She thinks I'm so organized...hahaha Surprise surprise!

Anyway thats about it. I've really enjoyed my U100. Tomorrow will be amazing and I can't wait to write about it. I will talk to you all later. I love you all and love your comments! Mom, make sure dad sees these. I want to keep in touch with him. I guess I'll text him tomorrow cause I miss his craziness. Ok well...much love you guys!

Good Morning!

Dad can't open your blog at work due to firewalls. He saw the first one I had opened on his computer at home but last night he mowed until almost dark. I think he only stopped because ... you got it, he got the machine stuck again! We got to sleep in this morning and he worked from home for a while. I'll write down the site so he can get to it when he's on this computer.

I love hearing about everything you're doing! I never had the regular college experience so I've enjoyed 'experiencing' the various approaches through you kids. It sounds like you're enjoying time with Kate and her crew as well as making new friends and I'm really glad to hear that. It sounds like the Back-to-School BBQ was a success and I'm glad for Kate. She was pretty excited about that. Did y'all happen to use the croquet game? Hee Hee

I gave your address and blog info to Ms. Opal and asked if it could go in the bulletin. She hasn't answered but I think she probably will put it in there.

Glad to hear you have a bike lock. Did you bring the bike from Kate's yet. Have you figured out where your classes are?

I feel a ramble coming on so I'll save it for my blog. Love you so much!!!
